github.com/colinhacks/zod/co…

An important skill in the AI era, next to knowing what to build, is knowing what to consume. AI tools are so powerful that you can absorb ideas and insights from more people than ever before. Knowing who is worth listening to is a very valuable skill these days.

13 years in backend. Principal Engineer at Atlassian. Concepts I wish I'd learned in year 2 instead of year 8: → p99 latency, and why averages lie → Connection pooling → Backpressure → Idempotency keys → Reading query plans (EXPLAIN ANALYZE) → Write amplification → Consistent hashing → Change data capture → The outbox pattern → Tail latency amplification None of them are hard. Every one of them would have saved me from tonnes of headaches.

Rendering a million-line diff is the easy part. 👀 Comments are what break it. Their height depends on markdown wrapping, expanded details, open reply boxes, and images still loading (none of which you know until you render). Here's how we rebuilt the PR view in the GitHub Copilot app 🧵
