The secret is out:
We have just created github.com/cncf/sandbox/issu… starting the process of submission of kcp to CNCF Sandbox.
We are a group of supporters of the project from @IBMResearch, @Kubermatic, @upbound_io, @VMware continueing the development.

Am happy to announce that we merged a new @kcp governance document github.com/kcp-dev/kcp/blob/… with a bootstrap set of maintainers including myself, IBM and Kubermatic. Stay tuned.

A gold mine for everybody doing lots of code reviews and struggles to answer the WHY when the authors questions review comments around complexity: simple, not easy. Don't complect 😍 youtube.com/watch?v=SxdOUGds…

My spontaneous 5min lightning talk at @rejektsio today in Valencia, KubeCon EU, is already online within the stream: "KCP – 1,000,000 clusters; also Name^WWorkspaced CRDs". Enjoy! youtu.be/6dzE_Zd3o5Y?t=29817

With generics now enabled in gotip, this got a bit easier: github.com/imjasonh/client-g…
I'd love some feedback on the UX, I'm not sure I'm doing this right.
Is anybody actively experimenting with Go type parameters / generics and K8s client-go? I think codegen etc nonsense is about 80% of the difficulty of writing a K8s controller and I want to kill it with fire.

Want to inject additional tools (language runtimes or SDKs, CLI tools, ...) into your #k8s #containers at runtime ? Have a look to my article on @rhdevelopers blog about Composable software catalogs on #Kubernetes developers.redhat.com/articl…

For those interested in github.com/kcp-dev/kcp we will hold first community meeting tomorrow github.com/kcp-dev/kcp/issue… at noon EST tomorrow (9am PST, 4pm UTC) - please join if you want us to dig into "kube-like control planes" in any particular direction!

I think of this differently. Using common tools and patterns (kube api, declared intent, reconciliation) enables others. So less universal control plane, more reuse good tools. Certainly all tools have limitations.

Neolithic Kube, pre-pods. Declare an intent and a custom resource...wow, what would you build?
Interesting work from @smarterclayton et al. I look forward to seeing this evolve: github.com/kcp-dev/kcp
I love it when a plan comes together.
