Today in #ComputingHistory, we celebrate #AdaLovelaceDay, an international celebration of women in STEM. Ada Lovelace Day was established in 2009 to honor her legacy and highlight the many contributions of women in STEM. It strives to inspire future generations to pursue careers in these fields.
In 1843, Ada Lovelace published what is widely regarded as the first computer program. Lovelace recognized that a machine could follow instructions to solve complex problems and predicted that computers would do far more than calculations.
Her legacy continues to inspire. #OTD buff.ly/V8tN8M5

As a software developer, it's very important to know Galton’s Law of Mediocrity (Regression Towards the Mean) in the context of AI.
According to Galton, as long as you are better than the average or have skills that AI cannot replicate (e.g., creativity, high agency, determination, communication, and teamwork), you are going to be fine in your career.

Much of the dysfunction you find in organizations, and most of the problems you find in software development, come from the fact that people—engineers in particular—believe that complex systems (in the Cynefin sense) can be understood and controlled. They can not. You cannot predict how a complex system, be it organizational or software, will behave. Put another way, a metric-focused analytical approach to improvement or control does not work and never will work. Metrics are always weak indicators, too focused on a single aspect of the system as a whole, and actions taken on those metrics are always unpredictable at the system level. At best, you can observe the system and continuously adapt to the inevitable surprises.
There is a connection between complication and complexity, of course. Simpler complex systems are easier to manage than complicated ones. Good architecture _should_ move you towards simplicity. No architecture, however, resolves the inherent complexity of a large software or organizational system. The best it can do is reduce the complexity.
LLMs (and many of the people who use them) do not understand architecture. Consequently, LLM-based code generation usually results in overly complicated, hard-to-manage solutions. To my thinking, you cannot use an LLM effectively in a production environment unless you are able to review and refactor the generated code through an architectural lens. Being a "great coder" is not sufficient. You want to keep your job in an AI world? Learn software architecture.

A genius is someone who discovers that the stone that falls and the moon that doesn't fall represent the same phenomena.
The man who, by the age of 30, transformed the scientific world showing that the universe was mathematically knowable.
Happy Birthday to Sir Isaac Newton.

Last day of 2025 - here's my end-of-year tip for anyone learning DevOps 👇
I've taught thousands of students, and I keep seeing the same time-wasting patterns:
❌ Spending weeks learning cloud consoles → AWS changed their UI 3 times while students were studying it
❌ Memorizing K8s YAML like poetry → People recite configs perfectly but can't explain why pods crash
❌ Stacking certs without building anything → I've watched people with 4 AWS certs struggle to deploy even a basic application
❌ Custom Bash scripts for everything → Hits a wall when scaling beyond 5 servers
What works instead: ✅
🔹 Linux & networking foundations
🔹 IaC with Terraform
🔹 Docker → K8s (in that order)
🔹 CI/CD to connect everything
Don't waste 2026 on the wrong learning path. Get my complete roadmap 👉 bit.ly/4pUh0aG

The Incal is one of the most influential graphic novels in the history of comics. It was first published in 1980 and created by Chilean writer Alejandro Jodorowsky together with French artist Moebius (Jean Giraud) ✨ @moebiusofficiel
The story follows John Difool, a low-class detective caught in a cosmic odyssey filled with mysticism, science fiction, social criticism, and philosophical symbolism.
