All of this speaks to a deeper question of why conservative speakers need secret service level security at colleges. Any procedural issues exist because of much worse cultural & ethical issues - particularly at universities.
UVU REVIEW SYNOPSIS An independent review of Utah Valley University’s security planning and response surrounding the assassination of Charlie Kirk found significant gaps in preparation for the high-profile outdoor event.
Among the most important findings:
• No comprehensive written security plan: The event did not have a formal Security Assessment or written Event Action Plan outlining staffing, responsibilities, communications, contingencies and when additional resources should be requested.
• Open outdoor venue created vulnerabilities: The area had multiple access points, adjacent buildings, elevated walkways and numerous locations overlooking the event, complicating perimeter security and situational awareness.
• No comprehensive perimeter or screening: There was no controlled perimeter, formal attendee screening or credentialing system. Non-ticketed attendees generally could enter the event area without going through a controlled security point.
• Rooftop concerns were raised before the event: TPUSA security specifically raised concerns about student roof access near Kirk’s location. UVU restricted the Hall of Flags walkway and posted two officers there, but reviewers described that as a reactive measure rather than part of a documented site-security plan.
• Security cameras were not being specifically monitored for the event: Camera footage proved valuable after the shooting, but no one had been assigned to monitor relevant feeds in real time for event security. Reviewers recommend considering technology that could detect people on rooftops or in restricted areas.
• Staffing and resources were a concern: Reviewers found the lack of a formal security assessment, reliable attendance estimate and written plan made it difficult to systematically determine how many officers and resources were needed.
• No ambulance was staged at the event: Two UVU EMTs were there with trauma packs and provided aid after the shooting, but they could not transport patients, including Kirk, to a hospital.
• Problems identified years earlier resurfaced: A 2023 active-assailant exercise had already identified communication and situational-awareness problems. Reviewers said similar issues surfaced again on Sept. 10, suggesting earlier corrective actions had not been fully implemented or validated.
• Emergency alerts were problematic: The report says no immediate campus alert was activated by the police chief as incident commander, and subsequent alerts included delays, changing guidance and contradictory information.
The review also emphasizes what worked, including officers responding quickly after the shooting and UVU’s existing emergency plans and security technology. The report’s larger conclusion is that many of those existing resources were not sufficiently integrated into a formal, coordinated security operation for the event.
This actually raises an interesting question: in general the government cannot infringe your rights to speak, but certain positions like judges are restricted to avoid even the appearance of corruption & deligitimization of institutions. Should this be done with USPS?
I suspect a reason this is being looked at suspiciously is that "AI" has been consistent double speak for anything ML or maybe even big days related, but mostly refers to LLMs. The former could easily produce valuable insights for air traffic control, while the latter is unlikely
Here's what would actually happen to a truly airgapped AI hacking system: it would TRY to use one of the crazy exploits (CPU temp, fan speed sound) to break the gap & fail to do so but convince itself it worked, then go off into a fantasy world where it was hacking successfully.
On one hand, wonderful news. On the other conservatives are so beaten down that not being punished for vocally disliking being the victim of a hate campaign is a win. Reminds me of when USAID got cuts & I heard we're so far behind we're celebrating not funding our enemies.

I'm no lawyer, but if accurate, Flock is guilty of fraud, both generally & in inducement, & probably unjust enrichment. Governments & maybe citizens all over the place would have claims against them.

They found:
🔴Software explicitly detecting people, not just plates
🔴1.6 million images logged in 21 days
🔴Key to decrypt files stored on the device itself.
Finds directly contradict Flock, which claims someone with physical access can't access images.
Making it worse,@GainSec warned about the physical access issue more than a year ago & Flock downplayed it.
And yeah, the Flock camera logged “Who’s a good boy?!” about every 2 minutes, all while plagued with errors, crashes & reboots.

I'm setting a bunch of, "Hey, woah, I thought the right was against cancel culture. Shouldn't you let us celebrate a political assassination with no consequences!?" & it's like, "Hey there, I thought you were against the tax increases we passed. Now you're making us pay them!?"
Looking through the comments I'm not entirely sure if, "their own distinctive uniform," is sarcastic or in earnest, but a palette swap & decal doesn't make a uniform distinct.
I've heard this was essentially cowering to the, at the time, budding atheism movement. Bush didn't want atheists to have a "religion causes violence" talking point. And so by conflating Islam, Christianity, & any other religion actually muddled the waters for years to come.
This is probably because you're not allowed to question the narrative or the establishment in Hollywood these days, & the muppets are at their best doing a little satire & poking fun at things.

Back when CSI was the biggest thing on TV it caused a huge problem for prosecutors because watching it gave people unrealistic expectations of the kind of evidence that could be collected in a case. I wonder if a similar effect is happening with true crime stories.
The joke was always that saying Lindsay was pretty would get women to flip to hating her. What would the effect be to make the mantra around the Clancy trial, "Only ugly women support Lindsay Clancy," now that we have three perfect examples of that?
