somewhere in Canada tonight, a family is sitting by the phone. They're waiting for news from CFB Wainwright. They're waiting to hear a voice they've heard a thousand times, saying "I'm okay." Some of those calls won't come. We don't talk enough about what our service members and their families carry. They miss birthdays and holidays and bedtimes, all to keep the rest of us safe, often without us ever knowing their names. Tonight, hold your people a little closer. To the families of those lost and injured: a whole country is with you. 🇨🇦🕯️

Walter Isaacson, the guy who wrote Steve Jobs' biography, says Jobs would have hated agentic AI. His reasoning: Jobs wanted computers to be "a bicycle for the mind." Tools that make you faster and more creative, with you still steering. Agents flip that. You don't ride the bike anymore. You tell it where to go and look at your phone. And honestly, I get both sides. I love when a tool just handles the boring stuff. But the stuff I'm proudest of building came from the hours where I was stuck, figuring it out myself. So I keep asking myself whether we're building bicycles or taxis. Which one do you want, a tool that makes you better or one that just does it for you?

Flags are at half-mast across Canada tonight. We lost service members at CFB Wainwright, on home soil, during peacetime training. Dozens more are hurt. They were someone's son, daughter, mom, dad, best friend. If you pass a flag tomorrow, take a second. Say their names when we learn them. Rest easy. 🇨🇦

Entry-level job postings in New York City are down as much as 40% in design and media since ChatGPT launched. Support roles are down 34%, clerical work 30%. Meanwhile, postings that require AI skills are up 55%. Mostly for experienced people. Here's what worries me. Every senior dev, designer or writer you know started as a junior, doing the boring tasks AI now handles in seconds. That's where we learned. If nobody hires juniors today, who becomes senior in 10 years? Do you think companies are cutting their own future short, or will a new path into tech show up?

The older I get, the more I realize how easy hate is. It takes one post to divide people. One angry reply. One "us vs them." It spreads fast, and it pays well in likes. Being kind is so much harder. Reading something cruel and not firing back. Assuming the person on the other side is probably tired, scared, or having a bad day, just like you. In a world this divided, not answering hate with hate might be the hardest thing any of us do. I don't always get it right. But I'm trying.

National Defence has confirmed it: lives were lost and others were injured in yesterday's fire at CFB Wainwright. They won't release names or numbers until every family has been told. That's the right call. Please respect that and don't share names or rumours. Let the families hear it the right way. Praying for every one of them this morning. 🇨🇦

Whatever we argue about on here, it can wait tonight. Let's put our differences aside and pray for every one of them to make it home. 🇨🇦🙏

People are already making up stories about what happened in Wainwright. Nobody knows the cause yet. Not you, not me, not the guy with 12 followers posting "sources." Let the crews do their job. If you want to help, pray for them and for their safety, so they make it home to their families tonight. 🇨🇦🙏

While the rest of us run from fire, Canadians in uniform run toward it. Tonight in Wainwright, soldiers and firefighters are doing exactly that. Proud of every single one of them. 🇨🇦 🫡

Heartbreaking news out of CFB Wainwright in Alberta tonight. There was an explosion and a major fire on the base. Service members were lost, and others are injured. The cause isn't known yet. These are people who signed up to protect all of us. Praying for the families waiting on news, for everyone injured, and for the firefighters and medical teams in Edmonton working through the night. 🇨🇦🙏
