More people should be upset about the proposed Big Bend border wall. Using @cbp's numbers:
The sector accounts for 25% of the border and 1.3% of the crossings. 3,096 last year.
Assuming the wall has 100% success for 50 years, that's $41,989 per prevention, not counting upkeep.
It was an amazing 2nd, 3rd, and 4th night at the Terlingua Star Park! I sold 288 of 300 possible tickets.
Signed Miles Adams as a resident musician. He's so underrated; vibe's perfect for telescope time. I wouldn't replace him with @rogerwaters.

I have a shittonne of handheld red lights, but with kids they're a nightmare.
I'm trying to find the balance of venue lighting with stargazing, eliminating the need to deploy handheld lights. Here's @claudeai's suggestion:
Lastly, this is how I found the venue Saturday morning. This dude just lean back until he beamed into space?

Grand opening of The Terlingua Star Park is October 2nd. Only 198 tickets remain!

I've never been more excited for a project. My goal is 1,000 guests a week.
I wish it weren't facing the existential threat of a well lit border wall.
Man camp update:
While I celebrated the relocation of several excavators, I had to see for myself.
Nothing else has changed. Drone security was the most aggressive yet.
Thank you Laiken for an excellent interview and all the work you've done!
I was thrilled to share a bit about our historic victory stopping wall construction across the Big Bend region live on @DemocracyNow early this morning with the legendary Amy Goodman.
Many thanks to the Thinking Poker team for having me back on the show!

Meanwhile in Arizona:
They are building a second wall. Right next to the first one.
BREAKING: DHS contractors are toppling the last of four ancient cottonwoods to build double border walls across the San Rafael Valley.
The wall cuts through the key remaining wildlife corridor for endangered jaguars between Arizona and Sonora, where human border crossings are seldom seen.
A protest camp had occupied and protected this tree for more than 60 days, halting construction. The camp was raided and campers were arrested this morning.
This wall will effectively lock the remaining jaguars in the U.S. into solitary confinement, while permanently marring one of the last remaining wild places along the Arizona border.

This is what they want to do to the Parks.
They paused because they are afraid of how it looks before midterms.
Their equipment lies in wait, just outside the Park boundaries.
This is how it looks.
The Big Bend is much bigger than @BigBendNPS.
While active border construction has been paused in Big Bend National Park, the bulldozers are plowing full-steam ahead in other parts of the Big Bend region.
We are urging the federal judge to step in and stop construction across the whole Big Bend Sector while the court considers the merits of our case. More truly irreparable damage is being done out here every single day.
Examples of unintended border wall consequence:
The collision bent a bridge structural beam and shifted the railroad track.
A 25 minute drive is now 37 along a back road I've never heard of, or 49 minutes around the mountains.
I distinctly remember running this song on repeat from my roach infested apartment in Colorado 23 years ago. The start of my life's journey. It certainly sounded different then!
Thank you!
