GPU economics can look profitable on paper, but what happens when demand shifts and those hours go unsold? The real challenge is matching compute capacity to real-world demand. At @ionet, we believe flexible, efficient compute infrastructure is key to making that work.
The @hyperbolic_labs paper runs analysis around 60,000 price paths. The assumption I would spend more time on is that 90% of capacity finds a buyer. This is where coffee feels like a useful comparison, I have been on the receiving end of coffee bean inflation ☕️. A benchmark does not make every coffee bean origin and grade equally saleable. In compute, networking, location and reliability still determine which workloads a cluster can serve. The year three numbers in their analysis show why that matters. At the modelled selling price of roughly $4.90 per billed hour, 90% utilisation earns about $4.41 for every available hour. The full contracted capacity cost is $4.30, including the prepaid deposit. At 85% utilisation, revenue becomes about $4.17 per available hour. That falls below the full capacity cost before paying for the hedge. The selling price has not changed. Just five percentage points of utilisation. My addition would be to let utilisation and customer mix move alongside price. Include a scenario where rates fall and fewer hours sell. Feed those assumptions with actual bookings, repeat usage and reasons customers leave. This can also explain the recent @CoreWeave debt news flow. Building inference products at @ionet has made me pay attention to how demand changes around model launches and new AI tech trends. The workload customers wanted last month may need different capacity or a different service today. That is product work with a direct effect on the economics: which workloads to support, how to package, extract peak performance from the capacity and how much demand actually returns. Coffee traders care about the specific micro lots and its buyers. Compute needs that same attention, with one extra constraint. Unroasted coffee beans can wait in a warehouse for another buyer. An unused GPU hour cannot. Thank you @hyperbolic_labs team on putting this paper out there.

20.9B tokens. One day. New record. 🔥 @ionet hits a new all-time high in daily token usage on @OpenRouter yesterday continuing the strong growth of recent days. Real workloads. Rising demand. More compute in action. And we're just getting started. 💪

More open-source projects, more ways to build with io Intelligence. Gajae-code, Claude-mem, Vellum-assistant and Wakil are now supported. Pick your provider, run your project on @ionet, and keep building. More integrations are on the way. 🚀
io intelligence now works with four open source projects: Gajae-code (@bloatedaislop) Claude-mem (@Claude_Memory) Vellum-assistant (@vellum_ai) Wakil Pick provider and run on @ionet More integrations are on the way. Building in the open? Give us a shout and we'll help you add your project.

Why do AI agents need different infrastructure than chatbots? 🤖 A chatbot usually responds to a prompt. An AI agent can reason, use tools, access data, write code, take actions and make multiple model calls to complete one task. That changes the compute requirements. 🧵👇

500M → 15B tokens/day. AI inference is scaling rapidly, and so is the workload running through @ionet hosted models on OpenRouter. With 64% provider share for Nemotron 3.5 Lightning, real usage is becoming impossible to ignore. Decentralized compute is being put to work. ⚡
500M tokens a day in March 2026. 15B tokens a day yesterday. That is daily volume across @ionet hosted models on @OpenRouter, served on an almost same mix of H100, H200 and B300 GPUs since Day 1. Along the way, we became day zero launch partners for open source reasoning models including @Zai_org, @Kimi_Moonshot, @Alibaba_Qwen , Nemotron, @MiniMax_AI and GPT OSS. Nvidia has built something useful with the recent Nemotron 3.5 Lightning. A fast, capable and efficient open model, with weights, datasets and recipes that give teams like ours room to optimise. Yesterday, the OpenRouter provider token share showed @ionet at 64% token share for Nemotron 3.5 Lightning, the largest provider share. Effective prices per million tokens: Input: $0.0335 Output: $0.179 Our volumes and price reflect both usage and affordability. We are serving this workload profitably on an inference stack built and operated end to end in house. Our small team still runs two to three experiments every week. We track tool calling changes, frontier lab updates and what communities on vLLM and Sglang are discussing, then test what matters on our own workloads. Demand changes with time zones and days of the week. Launch excitement fades. New providers arrive and price wars start. You get used to revisiting your assumptions. With GPU rental costs rising, compute efficiency and reliable tool calling matter more. A low token price only helps if the task gets done correctly. Open models are becoming capable enough to build around and economical enough to serve at scale. There is a lot of engineering behind making both true at once. Thank you @NVIDIA and the Nemotron team, @OpenRouter and @alexatallah for allowing providers like ourselves to work seamlessly, and our engineers, who know how much work sits behind a neat row in a pricing table.

11B tokens in a single day. 🔥 That’s what real adoption looks like. With 4.82B tokens from Nemotron 3.5 Lightning and another 4.24B from GLM 5.3 + Flash, workloads are clearly scaling across the network. Usage is the signal.

$28M+ in network earnings. ⚡ That’s real demand turning into real payouts for GPU providers. A strong signal that decentralized compute is not just an idea , it’s actually being used, and the network is generating real economic activity.

Future of AI Thread Challenge 🚀 AI is advancing faster than the infrastructure supporting it. GPU shortages, rising costs and increasingly complex AI workloads are creating new bottlenecks. So what should power the next generation of AI? 👇🧵

Everyone talks about better AI models. Bigger context windows. Better reasoning. More capable agents. But a great model is only useful if you have the infrastructure to actually run it. That’s why AI infrastructure is becoming just as important as the models themselves. 🧵

Cloud computing changed how we build software. But AI is putting new pressure on the model. More GPUs. Bigger models. More inference. Higher demand. So, is adding more centralized capacity always the answer? Not necessarily. 👇🧵

We recently crossed 6B+ tokens processed on OpenRouter in a day, marking a new ATH for IO Intelligence. 🔥 Adoption is scaling fast, and it’s exciting to see more builders actively using the infrastructure we’re building at @ionet. More to come. We’re only getting started. 💪

AI compute being expensive has almost become a feature, not a problem. But when decentralized infrastructure can make GPU access significantly more affordable, maybe it’s time to rethink what we’ve accepted as “normal.” Builders deserve better. ⚡

Ansem didn't become influential because of $ANSEM. $ANSEM became influential because of Ansem. And that's exactly why I believe @blknoiz06 is a marketing genius. Most people think marketing is about getting attention. "Ansem understood that attention is the outcome, not the starting point." For years, he invested in something far more valuable which is "Reputation". • He built a recognizable identity. • He stayed consistent through multiple market cycles. • He earned trust by sharing his convictions publicly. And when the community formed, he did not just treat them as followers but he gave them reasons to participate. Instead of relying on a traditional marketing budget, he built an ecosystem where every meme, every artwork, every video, every Space, every creator, and even creator-fee airdrops encouraged the community to keep the story alive. @BullpenFi lowered the friction even further by making participation and claiming rewards simple. The result? Thousands of people voluntarily became marketers, creators, and ambassadors of the narrative. But the part which goes unnoticed is: Years of consistency. Years of credibility. Years of building relationships. Years of showing up when there wasn't a viral token carrying the conversation. The last few days were not built in a few days. They were built over years. Whether you hold $ANSEM or not... You have to appreciate how quickly the community coordinated around a single narrative. Crypto still creates movements faster than any other industry.
