I understand why people are asked to condemn Hamas when they killed 1,200 people, including 36 children. I can't understand why no one is asked to condemn Israel, which has killed over 58,000 people and 20,000 children. They've killed more than 50 times the civilians as Hamas.

After you have given Israel 21 months a free pass in Gaza, it will take more than words to prevent Israel from completing its genocidal mission and overt ethnic cleansing campaign. And even more, to repair what's left of the EU credibility.
Civilians cannot be targets. Never.
The images from Gaza are unbearable.
The EU reiterates its call for the free, safe and swift flow of humanitarian aid.
And for the full respect of international and humanitarian law.
Civilians in Gaza have suffered too much, for too long. It must stop now.
Israel must deliver on its pledges.

While this article reflects my statement that EU leaders should not be allowed to evade accountability over the crimes they may have enabled in Gaza, the title the Intercept chose does not, and risks distorting the substance of my remarks.

We are deeply saddened to share the news of Prof. Frans Claas's unexpected passing. His contributions to histocompatibility and immunology significantly advanced our understanding of organ transplantation, leaving a lasting impact on science.
Beyond his groundbreaking work, Frans was an inspirational mentor and a genuinely kind person. His enthusiasm, generosity, and dedication influenced us all.
