Derek Chauvin was railroaded by a biased, corrupt Minneapolis system. He’s filed for a new trial, and the evidence is mounting: • Newly retained forensic experts say prosecution doctors improperly leaned on bystander video instead of the actual autopsy by Dr. Andrew Baker (cardiopulmonary arrest complicating restraint/neck compression… no classic signs of asphyxia). • 34–50+ current & former MPD officers have now sworn the knee-to-neck technique was trained and authorized, directly contradicting the supervisors who testified at trial. The truth keeps coming out.

The Spanish enclaves are lost. They will be de facto Moroccan without firing a shot. Border controls will have to be enforced within Spain, leaving the Spanish citizens to live and work outside of Spain and the EU for all practical purposes. Homes and businesses will burn or be abandoned. Citizens will flee to the mainland. Next will be Gilbraltar. Then the same script in Lampedusa. Island by island, enclave by enclave, Europe will be overrrun.

The Song of Roland is one of my favorite books. The Mohamedean masses overwhelm the last bastion of Christianity in Spain. Roland blows his horn to signal help from Europe in the person of Charlemagne. Roland blows so hard that he bleeds. He is cut down after a valiant fight against the invading horde. But the Muslims are not the main villain. The most evil character is Ganelon who betrays the Spanish nation by telling the invaders how to attack. He is found out and torn apart by four horses.

Apparently disorderly conduct now means saying something they might offend someone so much that they violently attack you. Note, the attack is not the crime but the speech.

Interesting how Minnesota Law Enforcement didn’t prepare for violent riots following the Shiloh Hendricks verdict. Almost like they knew that white Americans are not violent and obey the law.

Emily Wilson after watching the Odyssey: ‘The film presents an Odysseus who feels very bad about things that he's done in war, and is struggling to process them in a very modern, psychiatrised way – and needs drugs to do so! He seems to feel bad about being a warrior, and we never actually see him get to do much warrioring ... Nolan makes the protagonist a likeable, all-American hero; Homer's Odysseus wants glory, and he wants to get spoils from the sack of a city! I kept looking in vain for a sense that this was a film about glory. This is a film that has an interest in shame, but I don't think it has any interest in glory.’

I just hope this spurs people who like d the movie to read the Odyssey for themselves. And people who boycotted it to do to same. I’d rather have a discussion of the themes and characters of Homer than mao to the topics. Even if Nolan didn’t intend it, I hope that’s the result.

After thinking about it for a while I’ve decided I dislike the Odyssey adaptation because it inverts the values embedded in the epic: genos and kleos. Homer is all about genealogy. In the middle of fighting opposing sides will boast of their grandfather’s deeds. The heroes fight for glory. They spend their whole lives training, preparing and fighting. Nolan subverts both central values. He shows them regretful of war. He depicts them as unaware or uncaring of race or family. It is fundamentally a 21st century colonization and eradication of the values of the 10th century BC.

This should not be a controversial position: 12 pm should be as close to solar noon as possible. That’s it. That simple. We shouldn’t have noon be at 2 pm anywhere. It should fall between 11:30 and 12:30 all year round.

I am fully on team Standard Time all year. But realistically, I think we should try to roll it back to summer only. Ideally Memorial Day to Labor Day. Call it Daylight Summer Time. I hate how it has become the norm and Standard is the anomaly.

Everyone agrees the twice-a-year clock change is ridiculous. But if we’re making one time permanent, why choose the one that most sleep and circadian experts don’t recommend? Permanent standard time aligns better with our biology because morning sunlight is what sets our internal clocks. Permanent Daylight Saving Time means darker winter mornings, later body clocks, and more circadian disruption. This would be another disaster for American health. It’s probably too late to stop this but switch this to permanent Standard time instead!!!!
BREAKING: The House has passed legislation to make Daylight Saving Time permanent nationwide, ending the twice-a-year clock changes by a 308-117 vote. Backed by President Trump, the bill now heads to the Senate. If approved and signed into law, Americans would no longer have to change their clocks.

Studies show that many Americans will die, literally, as a result of going to permanent daylight savings time. It should be permanent standard time. Leave it to Congress to take a half-bad situation and make it fully bad.
