ICYMI: Vusi Thembekwayo Compares IShowSpeed’s Africa Tour To CIA Tactics Against Lumumba Celebrities and superstars are not morally or politically neutral entities in a world where a jazz musician's tour of a newly independent DR Congo was used by the CIA as cover for infiltrating and ultimately getting rid of the country's first and only nationalist leader, Patrice Lumumba. At a time when a new generation of American megastars are building cultural inroads and political access across the continent, South African author and entrepreneur Vusi Thembakwayo points out that we have seen this movie before. Perhaps quite literally. Don't forget to follow The Spearhead.

In Japan, for about a thousand years, a grown woman with white teeth looked unfinished, even a little barbaric. The custom was called ohaguro. Girls blackened their teeth when they came of age or married, and from then on black teeth marked them as adults. Court nobles, samurai, courtesans and geisha did it too. The dye was made at home. Pieces of iron were left to soak in tea or vinegar until the liquid turned the color of rust. Then powdered gall from sumac leaves went in, and the mixture turned black. It was warmed and painted on one tooth at a time with a soft feather brush. The great woodblock artist Kitagawa Utamaro made a print of women doing exactly this. According to the dental museum of Japan’s Kanagawa Dental Association, the warm liquid smelled so bad that married women blackened their teeth before their husbands got up. When they traveled, they carried an instant powder version. The look usually came with shaved eyebrows. The British diplomat Algernon Mitford, who met Emperor Meiji in 1868, described the 16-year-old emperor with blackened teeth and shaved eyebrows. Foreigners struggled with it. Ernest Satow, who came to Japan at 18 in 1861, was shocked by the black teeth of the geisha he met in Osaka. In 1870 the new government banned ohaguro for the nobility, but people kept doing it. In March 1873 the empress stopped blackening her teeth, and ordinary women slowly followed. By the 1920s the custom had almost disappeared.

Movie of the Day: Mag Mag (2025) by Yuriyan Retriever With directors Takashi Miike, Hirokazu Koreeda, and Miwa Nishikawa on board, the company behind “Mag Mag” aims to change the world’s perception of Japanese cinema. Their debut release seems to take on that mission within the realm of J-horror. Directed for the first time by Yuriyan Retriever, Japan’s most popular comedian and a two-time contestant on “America’s Got Talent,” and written by Eisuke Naito of “Liverleaf” fame, “Mag Mag” unfolds as a twisted tale that blends horror and humor in equal measure. Mag Mag will be available on digital platforms 19 October 2026, courtesy of Blue Finch Films Check the full video review in the link in the comments and let us know your thoughts on the film #magmag #yuriyanretriever #eisukenaito #asianmoviepulse #movieoftheday #japanesemovie #horrormovie

Early 1989: The US approached Chai Ling and offered her $1M & US citizenship with a new house. The DEAL: Lead a violent revolutionary protest at Tianamen Square. As the protest failed, she cried that the square wasn't awashed with blood. Yet, they still snug her out to the US.

Columbus documented the trafficking of Indigenous girls. In a 1500-letter preserved in the Spanish Navarrete archives, Columbus wrote: “There are many dealers who go about looking for girls; those from nine to ten are now in demand.” And: “I have ordered that a girl of that age be given to each of the men who asked for one.” Activists didn't ruin his legacy. His own words revealed who he was. The first historical figure America taught its children to celebrate, was a human trafficker.

All of a sudden it’s “groundbreaking discovery” when outsiders aka colonizers learn the way of the land
In the 1990s, Canadian ecologist Suzanne Simard made a groundbreaking discovery that challenged everything we thought we knew about how forests work. While studying managed forests in British Columbia, she noticed something puzzling: when birch trees were removed to promote the growth of valuable Douglas firs, the firs did not flourish as expected, they actually struggled and grew more slowly. Determined to understand why, Simard traced the movement of nutrients using radioactive carbon isotopes. What she found was astonishing. Trees were actively sharing resources through vast underground fungal networks known as mycorrhizae. These delicate, thread-like fungi connect the roots of different trees across the forest floor, forming a complex web that allows the exchange of carbon, water, nutrients, and even chemical signals, sometimes between entirely different species. She discovered that older, larger trees often serve as central "hubs" or "mother trees," supporting younger saplings by redistributing vital resources and helping the entire ecosystem remain resilient. When these key trees are removed, the underground network weakens, and the health of the remaining forest declines. Simard’s research overturned the traditional Darwinian view of forests as battlegrounds of ruthless competition. Instead, she revealed a far more sophisticated reality: forests operate as highly cooperative systems where trees communicate, support one another, and even warn neighboring trees about threats like drought, disease, or insect attacks. What appears to the human eye as a silent, still forest is, in truth, a vibrant, interconnected living network, built not on isolation and rivalry, but on deep connection and mutual aid.

🇧🇫 A promising scientific breakthrough has just been achieved in West Africa. This October 2026, Burkinabe researchers from the LADME Laboratory (Laboratory for Research and Development of Medicines), in collaboration with the Joseph Ki-Zerbo University of Ouagadougou, have presented an innovative solution: a plant-based larvicide bio-insecticide to combat malaria and dengue. Resulting from work carried out in Burkina Faso and funded by the Fund for Education and Research Support (FOSER), this formula is based on the properties of the local plant Calotropis procera. Applied in larval nests, it eliminates between 80% and 90% of mosquito larvae, while avoiding the phenomenon of resistance developed against traditional chemical products. By proposing a biodegradable alternative that respects the local ecosystem, the Burkinabe scientific team provides a concrete response to seasonal epidemics that hit the region. A strong demonstration of the impact of national research in the service of continental public health. Well done to Burkina Faso researchers.

The Western civilization was always a primitive culture. They believed that slavery, colonization and neocolonization were a sustainable economic model. They are are incapable of developing a plan B if we resist.

Mao Zedong: "A revolution is not a tea or dinner party. A revolution is an act of insurrection. An act of great violence. Of arson and bloodshed. It is the means by which one class overthrows another." Those who light the fuse to tear down the old order are often buried in the rubble.
