Otherwise, words become empty, but the way he handled the disappointment was very impressive. Not gonna lie! Also not gonna hold back! Drew makes 3.5 million dollars, which is a very difficult figure for OSU to meet. And what makes it particularly difficult is having enough funds to build the roster around him and provide the depth you need. I hate to put undue pressure on him, but nobody can take that piece of it away from him. He has to be able to deal with the expectations that come with that salary and perform. It reminds me of a college baseball player who is draft-eligible. You want to do well for your team, no question, but there's also a personal-gain element to it. In Drew's case, he surely feels the pressure to live up to the paycheck, and that has the potential to be a "me" emotion inside a team game, even if you are the farthest thing from a "me" person. Which I think we can safely say Drew has 0 "me" in him, so, again, that has always had the potential to be a weird thing to deal with. Yesterday was 29-49, 241 yards, 1 TD, a fumble, and a pick. It just wasn't a good performance. Let's call it what it is. And I'm gonna say this too: when you're making that kind of money, the expectations are going to be different. Fans aren't going to have the same "kid gloves" they might have had with college athletes in the past. That's part of the deal. So now Drew has to do exactly what he said he was going to do: get back to playing ball. Play to his potential, win games, and let the performance speak for itself.
