The "integrated vs. siloed" debate is the new fault line in product security. 📉 In my newsletter, I move past the theory and evaluate the products actually trying to bridge the gap between security and engineering. The biggest takeaway? Accelerating legacy processes isn't enough. You can’t just "automate" a security review that was broken to begin with. I’ve categorized the major players into two distinct camps: 1. The "Outside-In" Visibility Stack Companies like @Clover_Security and Prime security are building mature platforms that ingest engineering data into a separate, security-owned stack. If you have a traditional, siloed security team that needs to monitor an AI-accelerated development team from the sidelines, these are your leaders. They provide "agentic" visibility, but they don't necessarily change how the work gets done. 2. The Integrated "Engineering" Flow This is where I see the future. Clearly AI and DevArmor are building tools that actually live where the code is written. @devarmorHQ integrates directly into the PR flow to "automate the expert" and kill noise at the source. @ItsClearlyAI creates a "context engine" that feeds security specs directly into the AI context files developers are already using. Why this matters: In a world where AI is writing 90% of the code, a separate security stack is a losing battle. You are buying a faster horse while the rest of the industry is learning to drive. I also share why I’m passing on the "wrapper" startups that are just prompt-chaining existing LLMs. Moats in 2026 aren't built on prompts; they’re built on business context and deep engineering integration.
