Good thing Mr. Hatfield didn't turn in his old Apple-1 for an Apple // when Steve Jobs gave him that option 50 years ago.
It just sold at auction for $1,148,200 (including Bonham's premium) - a new record for an Apple-1.
There are only 75 Apple-1's known to survive.
Congratulations! Got my preorder in thanks to my kids waking me up.
I knew there were benefits to having children.
Good for them! Looks like a winner

Congratulations Professor!
A moment to celebrate! Members of the Columbia community gathered to honor Professor Michael Woodford after he received the @NobelPrize in Economic Sciences earlier today, including President Jennifer L. Mnookin, Provost Angela Olinto, Executive Vice President of Arts and Sciences Amy Hungerford, and Nobel laureates Joseph Stiglitz and Martin Chalfie. Congratulations, Professor Woodford!

Making Windows Live intern class of 2008 proud!
$MSFT
Excited for tomorrow! I kinda want a new iSight camera.
Waiting for #amyhoodappreciationday aka earnings call!
MSFT is back at $4t and with Maia it now owns both ends of its AI stack
Its integrating the compute layer with its own chips... already owns the apps and the harness (Copilot, GitHub, Foundry).... and in the middle, stays model-agnostic (running OpenAI, its own MAI models, Anthropic and open source)
The bet is that models get commoditized, and the money goes to whoever serves them cheapest and owns the customer.

We were able to fine tune an open weight model (Qwen3.5-9B) on proprietary internal data at @coinbase, and it out performed frontier models, at much lower cost and speed, for a specialized task (fraud prevention in this case).
I think we'll see more of this pattern inside companies. The frontier models are amazing generalists. But increasingly you'll see specialist models out perform on more narrow tasks, either working on teams, or by themselves.
We're making it easy to fine tune models internally for our employees. We even have a skill for it in our internal harness that makes it easy to spin these up and start training them:
"/fine-tune-and-serve-llm I want to fine-tune Qwen for payments risk review. help me get started"
I imagine we'll have some backend services that could be replaced entirely by this new architecture.
Every company will need a lightweight harness that gives them
- flexibility
- control
- visibility
While being able to manage the artifacts of today agentic era
-compute
- models
- code
Think outlook for agentic age. Somebody call BrianMac
These are some very important observations from Satya.
As models and harnesses commoditize, intent, verification and evidence will gate how quickly SI permeates enterprises and businesses.
Importantly, you need to implement systems that separate who does the work from those who govern, measure and sign off on it.
This is a new kind of “harness” that will emerge over the next few years. It may become a new system of record over time. One whose entire role is to track “change” and map it back to SOPs, policies, laws and the like.

I still remember as a young Microsoft employee listening to all his keynotes from my closed office in building 26 in Redmond - and sometimes getting ridiculed for brining the MacBook Pro to work! Thank you Steve for changing my life!
