A video mosaic where motion is the only source of colour.
When the video moves, it lights up. Move the cursor, and it lights up too ✨
Real-time in the browser, using @threejs

Adaptive video delivery for Ciel Rose.
Ciel Rose is a very video-heavy website: most of the videos play as textures inside the WebGL experience.
Serving the same large file to every visitor wasn't an option. A fast connection handles it; a slower one sits there buffering.
So the videos are streamed with HLS: several quality levels, split into small segments, and the player switches between them as the bandwidth changes.
One detail mattered more than the rest: the first seconds. Adaptive players tend to start on the lowest quality and work their way up, so a film looks blurry right when you first see it. Here each video starts sharp, and only steps down if the connection can't keep up.
Rich visuals, without assuming everyone has a perfect connection.

Saw this a while ago and wanted to bring that feeling into the browser.
Here it is, a web experiment exploring paper, wind and light 🍃
Inspiration from youngdenerak on Instagram.
And 감사합니다 @manwon_man for always sharing such inspiring finds!
Go check them both out! 👀

Experimenting with an infinite halftone pattern and plane bending on scroll 〰
Built with @threejs (WebGPU + TSL)
Gonna start sharing more experiments from client projects and personal explorations. Some new, some from the archive 👀
Starting with this one: a prismatic trail and cubes reacting to the cursor, real-time in the browser with WebGPU + TSL ✦◽️
