🚨 Going out of business sale 🚨 iOS dev course sales plummeted due to AI. It costs a lot of money to host my courses online and with sales at basically $0, I've cancelled that hosting. This closes down the site which unfortunately removes access to the courses. I want you to have the courses you purchased forever, so I've added the ability to download my course videos so they are yours. I've put my recent course on sale at a large discount so you can get it before it's gone and I've made old courses available for free if you want to grab those too. The school will be online until November 24th so you have a few weeks to download these videos at seanallen.teachable.com Thanks for learning with me and supporting my work over the years. I appreciate it.

Apple can now delete your whole developer account for a feature hidden in your binary. On Friday it became a separate rule, 2.5.19. Apple already rejected one of my apps for this. I'd left three testing switches in the release build: screenshots-mode, slow-entitlement, UnlockedMockPurchases. Nobody could reach them from the App Store, but Apple wrote that they "appear to have been intentionally hidden". Now I run strings on every archive before I upload.

If we only use AI to make the things that we already make, just faster, then we're definitely missing out on the most interesting part. From my talk at @lennysan’s Summit, here are four ideas for raising the ceiling, not just the floor: - Have a point of view [5:38] - Encode your standards into the machine [9:07] - Don't confuse done with good [12:21] - Unleash creativity and artistry [16:19] Full talk here: youtu.be/GLvFTMtw4Jk?si=-5Ts…

Xcode 27.1 beta ships with a skill to help you getting your app ready for iPhone Duo. You should check it out!
Excited to finally see the App Resizability skill I’ve been working on in the wild! It’s a great way to start getting your app ready for iPhone Duo, and the guidance applies to iPad and iPhone mirroring as well, so you can modernize your app to work great on any screen. ☺️

Costos y tiempo (35k items) Gemini 3.8 Flash: ~US$ 23 · ~4 pares/s · horas (techo ~300 RPM) Jev 1.13: ~US$ 1,50 · ~150 pares/s · 4 min 5. Output obtenido 89% coincidieron (31.728) Donde no coincidieron lo mandamos a que lo revise un humano (3.866 casos) Les dejo un caso donde no coincidieron: Optica Prisma F1 11/13 Fondo negro IZQ OPTICA PRISMA 11/13 FASE I fondo cromado oscuro IZQ Gemini dice "Si", Jev dice "unsure" Gemini: misma óptica F1. Jev: negro vs cromado oscuro, no mergea.

If your app has been using AsyncImage before, chances are, you didn’t mind a little reload. On iOS 27, those instances automatically get cached. If you serve the images, you can control the cache policy via backend changes alone. AsyncImage follows web standards for caching.
iOS 27 gives AsyncImage more control over remote image loading with URLRequest support for custom headers, cache policies, and timeouts, plus the ability to provide a custom URLSession across a SwiftUI view hierarchy: nilcoalescing.com/blog/Async…

This post and the ones that follow from @kylemacomber, @jacobx, and @tdonnelly are so worth reading to understand the principled technical decisions behind SwiftUI’s animation system.
Fun fact: the creator of CoreAnimation is one of the creators of SwiftUI! The decision to run animations in the app process rather than the render server (as CoreAnimation does) was one of the earliest and most fundamental decisions we made when designing SwiftUI. Some of the most distinctive experiences of using an iPhone, like UIScrollView rubber banding and SpringBoard app switching are only possible as client-side animations. But these experiences aren’t easy to build with UIKit! This is because if you want a UI to be fully interactive and interruptible by the user while it’s animating, it has to be running in the same process as the event handling. In fact, in iOS 18 we added new APIs to AppKit and UIKit to adopt the SwiftUI client-side animation model. There are a lot of valid critiques of SwiftUI. The fact that SwiftUI doesn’t use CoreAnimation for its animations is not one of them.

For the first time, scientists have mapped the complete brain and central nervous system of an adult male fruit fly — a key model organism in science. 🪰 Working alongside HHMI Janelia Research Campus and the scientific community, @GoogleResearch scientists and researchers used AI to combine millions of 2D images into 3D neural shapes, reconstructing a record-breaking 166,000+ neurons. This foundational map of the adult male fruit fly brain can help accelerate our understanding of the brain, and is a major milestone in neuroscience.

Trust me, no one was more interested in open-sourcing SwiftUI than many of the people working on SwiftUI! Because selfishly, it would then be a lot more clear to everyone how much of it is *not* a thin wrapper around UIKit and AppKit. It’s a full stack UI framework on its own, which is also why large parts of UIKit and AppKit are now able to be rebuilt on top of it (as recently mentioned by Apple in this year’s SOTU).
Until you've walked a mile in their shoes, it can be hard to appreciate why the teams at Apple are so conservative with the API surface they expose. But look at the navigation bar in iOS 17. Now look at it on iPhone Duo on iOS 27. It was a massive multi-year effort that required rewriting nearly all of UINavigationBar and UINavigationController. Do I wish SwiftUI was open source? Yes. But the folks on the UI framework team have good reason for operating the way they do.
