most of your future clients are out there right now actively looking for what you do. they just don't know you exist yet. if you can get in front of them and present your offer clearly, you will close them. that's it. that's the whole game. distribution beats everything.

We didn’t anticipate the demand for the Claude Startups program. In the first 48 hours of the program, we received 21x the number of applications compared to the last 5 months it’s been live. We let way too many people in this time, so we’ll need to pause on giving out the Team plan and API credits benefits. The other benefits (Startup Stack, Applied AI office hours/events) will remain. If you’ve already claimed the Claude offers, they’ll still remain in your account. We didn’t properly tune the acceptance criteria at the start, and many non-startups were accepted this time around. We’re fixing this now. We’re sending an email now to everybody who hasn’t claimed their benefits yet, and will re-verify those applications so we can keep Claude Startups for startups 🙏

The reason people love making these motion videos of their products is because so many of us are so bad at visual metaphors for our products and this helps unlock some of that for us. Is the pacing garbage? Yes. But it's exciting to see your indie product in a video like this!

Our goal for 2026 was to 3x Laravel Cloud revenue. Already done. On pace to 5x. ✨ I know some companies are growing a lot faster or a lot slower, but here are some of my learnings so far. Focus on making the product decisively the best in its category. Easy to be distracted from this, and there are no gimmicks or tricks to get around it. The product is either the best option in the space or it's not. Being the "best" is a blend of a lot of factors - technical superiority, features, price, design, and more. Striking the right balance across all of them gets tricky when your customer base or community is really varied (long-tail community users vs. large scaled companies). A lot of what goes into the above isn't always visible to end users or even other people in the organization. We spent months getting our scale-to-zero tech for app compute and managed queues really dialed in. Can be hard to explain to non-engineering roles why we spent months on this - and even hard to explain to more technical folks why something doesn't ship for months. But the work is hard and it has to be done right. Now it's one of our biggest differentiators and contributes heavily to "decisively being the best product." I used to think all meetings were dumb. Most still are, to be honest, but a few are helpful - particularly quick pulse checks on the state of projects. Does anything need to be unblocked? What's the goal today / this week? Maintaining urgency and speed in a remote company is really challenging and takes intentional effort every single day. I spend a lot of time just sitting and thinking about everything. A lot of frantic energy online and nothing of substance or value ever ships. I'd rather make a few really thoughtful moves than throw a bunch of slop at the wall. X is an even bigger bubble than I realized. On here it feels like everyone is just building devtools for other devs to build more devtools. None of our largest customers are really on X, none are in SF, and none are devtool related. We have a wide variety of really interesting customers building things to solve all sorts of problems you'd never expect, all around the world. Anyway, back to work. Still a lot to build. 🫡

This is what happened when you build a good product. I freaking love Laravel Cloud, you can truly see the love that went into it, it is smooth as hell. Support is awesome also. This is another reason that will keep me building with Laravel for a long time. I can't thank enough Taylor for what he created.

A personal note and then off to work: @dhh I want to thank you for your unhinged enthusiasm. It's truly infectious. Watching you share your vision for Omarchy with hope and optimism and passion has been a breath of fresh air. Even your handling of the doubters. Positive, undeterred, open. It's prompted me to reflect on what it is that I want to do that I can get this excited for. I've been reminded of a time when I was similarly stoked and undeterred. Your passion has created a space of permission for others to have a similarly unhinged enthusiasm. As much as Rails and Omarchy will be massive pieces of your legacy, I hope that people will also remember you for your enthusiasm and undeterred passion. It's so much easier to be stoked than to be cynical. There are always problems to solve. Such is life. And the fun really. The celebration of what is good, what is possible, now that, that is an attitude worth adopting. We can fix everything.
