Heute, am 24. Mai 2026, hat Emmanuel Macron mit Alexander Lukashenko telefoniert. Ja, genau mit dem Mann, der Belarus seit Jahren als russischen Vorhof verwaltet und dessen Land 2022 als Startrampe für Putins Angriff auf die Ukraine diente.
Offiziell heißt es aus Minsk: Man habe über „regionale Fragen“ und die Beziehungen zwischen Belarus, der EU und Frankreich gesprochen. Übersetzt aus Diplomatensprech: Es geht nicht um Smalltalk. Es geht um Krieg, Druck und die Frage, ob Belarus noch tiefer in Putins Eskalationsmaschine hineingezogen wird.
Aus dem Umfeld Macrons heißt es deutlich: Frankreich habe Lukashenko gewarnt, Belarus nicht stärker in Russlands Krieg gegen die Ukraine zu verstricken. Und genau das ist der Punkt.
Belarus ist gerade wieder auffällig im Spiel: gemeinsame Übungen mit Russland, nukleare Drohkulisse, Warnungen aus Kiew, Nervosität an der NATO-Ostflanke. Lukashenko erzählt zwar, Belarus wolle nicht in den Krieg hineingezogen werden. Gleichzeitig steht sein Land militärisch, politisch und strategisch längst im Schatten Moskaus.
Geopolitisch ist dieses Telefonat deshalb kein Zeichen von Entspannung. Es ist ein Warnsignal.
Macron ruft nicht an, weil er Lukashenko plötzlich für einen verlässlichen Partner hält. Macron ruft an, weil Belarus wieder zur Schaltstelle russischer Eskalation werden könnte: gegen die Ukraine, gegen Polen, gegen Litauen, gegen die gesamte Ostflanke.
Und für Lukashenko ist die Botschaft bitter: Wer sich als Putins Rampe zur Verfügung stellt, wird auch als Rampe behandelt. Nicht als neutraler Vermittler. Sondern als Teil des Problems.
Der Frosch wird weiter gekocht. Gestern Drohnen, heute Warnungen, morgen vielleicht „Übungen“, übermorgen ein „Zwischenfall“. Genau so funktioniert hybride Eskalation: langsam, schleichend, immer knapp unterhalb der Schwelle, bis alle sich daran gewöhnt haben.
Aber Paris scheint diesmal direkt nach Minsk durchgestellt zu haben:
Nicht noch einmal 2022.
Nicht noch einmal Belarus als Aufmarschraum.
Nicht noch einmal „wir konnten ja nichts dafür“.

However, despite the arrival of this assistance, the final victory will still be achieved by us. It is we, the people of Iran, who will finish this task in this final battle. The time to return to the streets is approaching.
Now that the Islamic Republic is collapsing, my message to the country’s military, law enforcement, and security forces is clear:
You have sworn an oath to protect Iran and the Iranian nation, not the Islamic Republic and its leaders. Your duty is to defend the people, not to defend a regime that has taken our homeland hostage through repression and crime. Join the nation and help ensure a stable and secure transition. Otherwise, you will sink with Khamenei’s ship and his crumbling regime.
And my message to the President of the United States, President Trump, is this:
The honorable people of Iran, despite the brutal repression and killings carried out by this regime, stood bravely for nearly two months. I now ask you to exercise the utmost possible caution to preserve the lives of civilians and my compatriots. The people of Iran are your natural allies and the allies of the free world, and they will not forget your assistance during the most difficult period of Iran’s contemporary history.
And to you, my dear compatriots in Iran:
In these sensitive hours and days, more than ever we must remain focused on our ultimate goal: reclaiming Iran.
I ask you, for now, to remain in your homes and remain calm and safe. Stay alert and ready to return to the streets for the final action at the appropriate time, which I will communicate to you.
Follow my messages through social media and satellite media. If disruptions occur in the internet and satellite broadcasts, I will remain in contact with you via radio.

Diplomacy and real assistance must go hand in hand. Russia does not stop its strikes against our country, and right now we need to bolster air defense to protect our people, our communities, and critical infrastructure. Every delivery of air defense missiles saves lives and boosts the chances for diplomacy. That is why every meeting must yield concrete results – new decisions regarding air defense, new assistance packages, and new capabilities to protect the skies.
During our meeting with President @EmmanuelMacron, this was exactly what we discussed – Ukraine’s real capabilities to counter Russian terror, our defense, and the support that can strengthen our positions in diplomacy. We also had a very substantive discussion about diplomacy and our steps. Today, following a conversation with President Trump, we further coordinated positions with European leaders. The positions are clear. A real peace must be achieved, one that will be lasting, not just another pause between Russian invasions.
Killings must stop as soon as possible, the fire must cease both on the battlefield and in the sky, as well as against our port infrastructure. All Ukrainian prisoners of war and civilians must be released, and the children abducted by Russia must be returned. Thousands of our people remain in captivity – they all must be brought home. Pressure on Russia must be maintained while the aggression and occupation continue.
In my conversation with President Trump, I said that sanctions should be strengthened if there is no trilateral meeting or if Russia tries to evade an honest end to the war. Sanctions are an effective tool. Security must be guaranteed reliably and in the long term, with the involvement of both Europe and the U.S. All issues important to Ukraine must be discussed with Ukraine’s participation, and no issue, particularly territorial ones, can be decided without Ukraine.
I thank our partners who are helping. Today, there is an important statement from European leaders that strengthens our position. We continue working together – Europeans, Americans, and everyone in the world who wants peace and stability in international relations.
