A historic homecoming for the Lions. After years of planning, designing, and watching Bank Independent Stadium take shape, there was nothing quite like seeing it come to life for opening weekend. Nearly 12,000 fans filled University of North Alabama’s new on-campus home as students, alumni, and the Florence community came together for a moment decades in the making. For Davis, it was especially meaningful to be part of this chapter in UNA’s history. Alabama’s first public four-year university and Alabama’s oldest continually operating architecture firm came together to create something entirely new. Architecture creates the place. People give it life. We’re proud to have played a role in creating a new home for the Lions, and grateful to have been there to see its first chapter begin. Roar Lions! #BankIndependentStadium #UNALions #UniversityOfNorthAlabama #DavisArchitects #Architecture #FlorenceAL

Today we’re celebrating a big milestone: Kathleen’s 20th anniversary with Davis! For the past two decades, Kathleen has brought creativity, thoughtfulness, and an incredible eye for design to countless projects. Her talent and dedication have helped shape not only the spaces we create, but the people and teams she’s worked alongside throughout the years. We’re grateful for all she has contributed to Davis over the last 20 years and are so happy to celebrate this milestone with her. Happy 20 years, Kathleen!

Congratulations to Hewitt-Trussville High School on being named the No. 5 public high school in Alabama and among the top 5% of high schools nationwide in the 2026–2027 U.S. News & World Report Best High Schools rankings! When Davis Architects designed the new Hewitt-Trussville High School, the vision was to create a campus that reflected the Trussville community while providing spaces that would serve its students for generations. Nearly two decades later, we’re proud to see the campus continue to support a school community achieving at such a high level. Congratulations to the students, educators and entire Trussville community on this well-deserved recognition! #DavisArchitects #HewittTrussville #TrussvilleCitySchools #EducationDesign #AlabamaArchitecture @TrussvilleK12

A sacred space captured by hand. This detailed watercolor elevation reflects the timeless elegance and spiritual identity of Andrew Gerow Hodges Chapel, “A Sermon in Stone” where art, architecture, and worship come together at the heart of Samford’s Beeson Divinity School.

Great venues don't just host unforgettable moments. They help create them. The transformation of the University of Florida's Stephen C. O'Connell Center reimagined the iconic O'Dome for a new generation of athletes, fans, and visitors. A new grand entrance, expanded lobby, renovated seating bowl, and 360-degree concourse create a more connected, welcoming experience, while upgraded amenities and event spaces prepare the arena for everything from Gator athletics to major community events. Thoughtful renovations preserve the legacy of a place while shaping the memories still to come. #designedbydavis #gogators #floridagators

While summer break means a pause from the classroom for most students, activity at the Alabama 4-H Center is in full swing. Completed in 2007, the Environmental Education Center serves as the hub of the center’s environmental education programs. The facility was designed to support classroom instruction, laboratory activities, and hands-on learning experiences throughout the site. Nearly two decades later, it continues to welcome students from across Alabama, providing opportunities to learn about the environment through direct observation and experience. As another summer season gets underway on Lay Lake, the building remains an active part of the Alabama 4-H Center’s mission to educate and inspire future generations. #designedbydavis #architecture #design #alabama4H

What an iconic venue.
I respectfully ask the NCAA tennis oversight committee to reevaluate the 10 year commitment that was made to Orlando. A decision that was essentially made behind closed doors without giving any campus sites an opportunity to bid on any of those years. I haven't met one athlete, coach, or fan that prefers this tournament be played on off campus sites.

A true full circle moment. Neil Davis has been awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Fine Arts from Samford University after decades of helping shape the campus through iconic projects including Seibert Hall, Brock School of Business, Beeson Divinity, and the University Center Renovation. Congratulations, Neil! @SamfordArts @SamfordU #DesignedByDavis #SamfordUniversity #DAVIS

This week, the Masters takes center stage. But behind every great round is something just as important. The place. Our own @JimHHartsell writes about the quiet, character-filled clubhouses of Scotland. The ones that don’t make the broadcast, but shape the experience in ways that last. It’s something we think about every time we design a golf facility. How it feels before the round. After the round. And everything in between. Because the best courses don’t just host the game. They become part of it. Read more at the link below: dadot.com/news-blog/jim-hart…

If you haven’t finished your bracket yet, this is your sign! The tournament tips off this week, and everyone’s working through those final picks: comparing options, making a few adjustments, and deciding what feels right. It’s a process we know well. An evening surrounded by leaders who are shaping the future of Birmingham, and we were proud to see Andrew Taylor right there among them. Last week, Andrew was recognized as part of the 2026 Birmingham Business Journal 40 Under 40 class. Andrew was honored alongside an impressive group of professionals making a meaningful impact in business and in our community. Seeing him celebrated among such strong company made the night even more special. Andrew leads with intention and consistency, always thoughtful in his decisions and steady in his care for clients and teammates alike. Grateful to celebrate in such good company, and even more grateful for the impact Andrew continues to make.

Samford University commissioned the Davis team to plan and design a state-of-the-art facility to house the rapidly growing Brock School of Business. The owner challenged the design team to site the building on a steeply sloping parking lot just outside of the campus center. The design centers around a 3-story atrium that allows for student and faculty interaction, enhanced circulation, and inviting lounge and breakout spaces. The adjacent grand staircase on the quad-facing side of the building was perceived as a lantern for the whole campus, with ample windows to vertically unite the hillside campus and allow light to fill the atrium and lounge beyond. The instructional spaces include a sixty-student tiered lecture hall, several forty-student classrooms, seminar rooms, and collaborative spaces. The portfolio management room houses six Bloomberg terminals and stock tickers that allow students to quickly access worldwide financial data. Administrative spaces are comprised of a dean’s suite, offices, executive conference center, and career development center. The large meeting room on the top level is used by the University and community for various events, while the rooftop deck provides stunning views of campus. read more about Brock School of Business here: dadot.com/brock-school-of-bu…
