Introducing Ardia, the open-source Arc
I've been working on this for a few months now. It's feature-complete, already used by a bunch of former Arc users, and extremely performant.
github.com/mantrakp04/ardia
We've decided to sunset Arc on December 22, 2026.
That's not an easy sentence to write. We spent years building Arc and celebrating each and every release along the way: we have so much pride and love for what we made alongside the Arc community.
Our priority is to deliver best-in-class security for our members. Keeping a browser secure takes constant, dedicated work that is only increasing in the age of AI. Dia was built from the ground up to meet today’s security standards, so that's where our engineering and security teams will focus moving forward.
We've worked to make switching to @diabrowser as easy as possible for Arc members. Here's how:
· Your passwords, bookmarks, extensions and history come over to Dia seamlessly.
· Spaces, Folders, and Tab Groups are in Dia and import over with your data intact.
· Dia now surpasses Arc benchmarks in stability, speed, and security.
· The browser features you use in Arc are free in Dia, and the AI is optional.
Thank you for using Arc, for pushing us to make it better, and for building alongside us. The team that made Arc is the same team behind Dia, and some of our most ambitious work is just ahead. We'd love for you to be there with us when it lands.

Dear XBOX
Buy the Mass Effect IP, Hire the Best of BioWare and reform it.
You already have RPGs, but nothing like this.
It’s one of the best franchises in all of Sci-Fi, and there’s no games like that Trilogy
The Return Of Mass Effect needs to happen

you ruined Arc to chase the AI hype with Dia
aka a half-baked browser missing what made Arc great
did you even ask what your users wanted?
now you’re shutting it down sth we're using for years?
at least open-source it!
don’t let all that engineering work go to waste.
we'll take it from here

Sure, Anthropic may have stolen all the world's intellectual property, destroyed the education system, incited mass layoffs among the corporate class, devalued all art and destroyed social trust but somehow they also managed to lose $80 billion in the first half of 2026

Anthropic, the company behind Claude, lost $80.7 billion in six months, according to its draft IPO filing. About $72 billion of that happened because the company got more valuable, and if its value had crashed instead, the same accounting rule would have booked it a gain on paper.
That sounds made up, so here's how it works.
When Anthropic raised money, a lot of it came in through convertible notes and similar deals. Think of them as IOUs that turn into stock later. Accounting rules make the company list those IOUs as something it owes, and price them at whatever that future stock is worth today.
Anthropic started 2026 valued at around $350 billion. It raised at $380 billion in February, and by late May it closed a $65 billion round at $965 billion, passing OpenAI. Every jump made those IOUs worth more on paper, and every time that happened the books recorded it as a loss, even though no actual cash went anywhere.
The same thing happened last year. Anthropic's 2025 net loss was $42 billion, and more than $34 billion of it came from this exact kind of adjustment, in a year when its value went from $61.5 billion in March to $350 billion by November.
Take the $72 billion out and you're left with a loss of about $8.7 billion over six months, on $16.3 billion of revenue. A year earlier, first-half revenue was $1.1 billion. Then Q3 by itself brought in $16.8 billion, more than the whole first half, and Anthropic told investors it was profitable on an adjusted basis that quarter.
The number I'd actually watch is somewhere else in the filing. Anthropic said it could spend as much as $750 billion on computing power over the next few years, and two customers made up about a fifth of its 2026 revenue. At last week's investor event, people reportedly talked about a valuation around $1.5 trillion, down from the roughly $2 trillion that was floating around for the November IPO.
Anthropic's IPO is going to come down to whether revenue growing 45% a quarter can keep up with a $750 billion computing bill.
