“Analytics” means trying to determine how valuable each play/outcome is. But to the indignant, it means taking huge swings and throwing erratic pitches. It’s no wonder there’s such a disagreement. The argument isn’t in the same universe. Unfortunately there’s no “meeting in the middle” here. Analytics will remain an effort to try and understand what wins baseball games with no room for any other interpretation.
