Thrilled to see my first perspective article published in @ACSSynBio! Some distilled ideas and concepts from my thesis work "Rethinking Microbial Chassis as a Design Variable". Check it out here: pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/acs… @microbe_angler

Our work on Taxol biosynthesis is now out at @NatureSynthesis. You can read it here: nature.com/articles/s44160-0…
Congratulations to @FYL72430027 and the rest of the @KampranisLab and thank you @novonordiskfond @DFF_raad and @KU_PLEN
I published in one of my fave journals! @ACSSynBio In my third paper, the last from my PhD, I showcase how host-context can be used to tune and expand the function of a genetic circuit. Give it a read! pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/acs…
Happy to announce my second 1st-author paper is out🥳 Pangenome + Transcriptome = Insight into the microbial chassis-effect @microbe_angler @ASMicrobiology

My third preprint is out! The #synbio community should start diversifying their use of host organisms as chassis!

My newest preprint just dropped! 🥳My work on the microbial chassis-effect...continued!
Differences in gene circuit performance across microbial hosts can be traced along the differences in their expression of shared "core" genes.
Check it out here:

New preprint by amazing PhD student @dennistcc
"Core" genes that control growth physiology shape the "engineer- ability" over different bacteria WRT synthetic gene circuits. Not "unique/accessory" genes &
debuts a new @synbio toolkit for Stutzerimonas!

Y'aaall my first publication as 1st-author just got published😭🥳Its been a labor of love. Do the terms chassis-effect and genetic circuit buzz your buzzer? Then my paper is for you! #synbio #biodesign #biotech @baldwin_geoff @microbe_angler @BioDesignR

Overcame my imposter syndrome and finally submitted my first paper 😩 Can't wait to get benched!
Psst, link to pre-print is here: doi.org/10.1101/2023.02.27.5…
Turns out bacterial physiology is a pretty good predictor of the chassis-effect!

Broad-host-range #synbio requires standardized genetic devices, but also a new understanding of how species-specific #microbe physiology affects performance. Please check out and RT our preprint on the subject #biotech

If this movie's plotline got me suspending even a gram/inch/ounce of disbelief, well it won't be the only thing I'll be suspending @netflix 👀 #bioshock #videogames
#ISME18 was my first science conference ever, like truly ever! Tbh, cant remember any of the science stuff, but I leave with increased confidence (read: decreased imposter syndrome) in my research and in myself as a scientist (also no covid). Thnx to y'all who made it a pleasure!
