WEQNT Stake Pool - 2025 Year in Review
As 2025 comes to a close, we would like to reflect on the progress, challenges, and impact made possible through the continued support of everyone staking with WEQNT.
Internet Infrastructure & Connectivity
The primary focus of our work in 2025 was the continuation and expansion of a project initiated in late 2023: the development of a fully operational internet service provider (ISP) serving northern Kenya.
This initiative was born out of a clear need. Internet access in the region is scarce, unreliable, and often prohibitively expensive, despite strong demand from young people, entrepreneurs, NGOs, and small businesses.
Key milestones achieved include:
• Deployment of two 30-meter communication masts equipped with radio transmission antennas
• Strategic placement of the second mast on land acquired within the UNHCR municipality in Kakuma, directly linked to the first mast located 15 kilometers away at Bishop @johneyanae5 premises
• Installation of over 10 kilometers of fiber-optic cabling across the city
• Onboarding of 40 active clients, with consistent growth and rising demand
This infrastructure has enabled the delivery of internet services at an exceptionally low price, fully funded through WEQNT and a personal loan. The aim has always been to impact lives where most needed
Energy Independence & Operational Resilience
To ensure reliability, we invested in a fully solar-powered energy system, complete with battery storage. Given the unreliability of the local power grid, energy independence was advised as essential to the success and sustainability of the ISP.
The total investment in infrastructure, energy systems, deployment and wages now exceeds USD 80,000 (since October 2023)
Growth Potential & Long-Term Vision
While the ISP represents a major achievement, it was never intended to stand alone. From the outset, the broader vision has been to establish a system capable of generating sustainable impact/income over time.
As the service matures, revenues can support additional initiatives such as:
• Micro-loans for farmers and small business owners
• Job creation and digital skills development
• Community-driven infrastructure projects for farmers and small businesses
• Broader efforts to stimulate local economic growth
In this way, connectivity becomes a foundation for wider opportunity. That is the vision and hop for the ISP!
The work in Kenya has been carried out mainly by local partners and a dedicated operational team. WEQNT was solely the fancier of the project. As is often the case with complex, long-term projects, the year also brought moments that required reassessment and structural team adjustment.
During 2025, changes within the team were made to strengthen governance, accountability, and alignment with the project’s core values. While transitions are never easy, these steps were necessary to protect the integrity of the mission and ensure long-term sustainability.
WEQNT Role
My role in this initiative was to financially bootstrap the system, and help define a long-term vision, one that the team fully embraced and put into practice.
To ensure the foundations were carefully established, I initially retained a majority stake in the ISP.
With the core infrastructure now in place and the vision clearly embedded, I have now instructed the company’s solicitor to transfer all of my shares to Bishop John who is best positioned to guide the ISP’s continued growth and day-to-day operations.
There has been no exchange of funds for my shares and repayment of the personal loan will take time, and that was always understood.
Beyond the ISP, Bishop John and I have agreed to continue the provision of solar lighting solutions in rural areas, work we have been engaged in together since 2020.
This progress and impact were made possible by your trust and support. This is not just our success—it is yours.
Thank you for staking with WEQNT.

After having received the first slopfest submission (which surely was well intentioned, but is pretty useless), Id again like to raise attention to this.
An AMAZING opportunity to get paid for doing interesting work on Cardano.
(just to be clear, using AI is obv perfectly fine, but we dont need a meat proxy to paste the questions we defined into a harness)

JUST IN: 100,000 farm lands in India are now registered on the Cardano blockchain.
This marks a milestone for 5am.earth’s agricultural trust layer, bringing farm data on-chain to support more verifiable, reusable records across the ecosystem.
Research stands at the core of Cardano’s DNA. With the launch of the Cardano Research Exchange, we’re creating a space where researchers and anyone contributing to Cardano research can present their work, engage directly with the Cardano Community, exchange ideas, and receive live feedback to help challenge, refine, and further develop their research.
Thank you @manv_sc, Juan, and @Cardano_CF for sharing this high-level overview of Cardano Foundation’s research activities and giving the Community a closer look at the work being done.
Looking ahead, I’m excited not only for the next sessions, but also for the opportunity to welcome other research teams and initiatives across our ecosystem.
Bringing research closer to the Community creates opportunities for collaboration, knowledge sharing, and new perspectives that can help move the ecosystem forward.

TOKEN2049 Singapore Recap 🇸🇬
What a week for Cardano and Masumi at TOKEN2049!
A few personal highlights:
1. Cardano absolutely dominated the conference.
The Cardano booth was, in my opinion, by far the best booth at TOKEN2049. Great location, great energy, and tons of people stopping by throughout the event. Really impressive to see.
2. Masumi took over the hackathon.
Out of roughly 200 hackers, an estimated 140+ ended up building on Masumi. That's pretty crazy.
I think a huge part of this success comes down to Sandro from Masumi and Bora from the CF, who were incredibly available and actively supported developers throughout the entire hackathon.
Combined with the largest prize pool, this made a real difference.
3. We got to showcase Masumi twice.
First, we presented Masumi and our AI CMO agent at the Cardano booth, showing what autonomous AI agents can actually do.
Then I had the opportunity to pitch Masumi in just 3 minutes at the Draper Dragon event overlooking Marina Bay.
Both went really well, and it was great to see the interest in what we're building.
Huge thanks to everyone involved, especially the Cardano Foundation team, for making this happen.
Excited for what's next! 🚀

In case you missed it, the recent Developer Spotlight is with @maxalexweber, creator of @ODATANO_V4.
Coming from a background in SAP development, Max became curious about decentralized systems and started asking how Cardano could fit into the enterprise world. His answer is ODATANO, which lets SAP developers work with Cardano through OData, a standard they already know, so much of the blockchain complexity disappears.
He also recorded a short message, walking you through his journey from SAP into Cardano and how it led to the creation of ODATANO.

This deserved to win. I don’t think panel judges understand how impressive this is and how big the total addressable market is for private stablecoin payments on the blockchain.

Heading back from my second TOKEN2049. Cardano definitely leveled up again booth-wise (credit to @Cardano_CF for the execution), although anecdotally from my POV, foot traffic at the whole event felt lighter than last year. Most likely a reflection of market sentiment, but regardless TOKEN2049 still remains the biggest event on the crypto calendar.
It was also clear how much progress many of the Cardano teams presenting have made in recent months. There's also a lot more raising going on which makes for a positive signal. Overall the ecosystem feels more mature for it.
The privacy play remains a major opportunity for the Cardano ecosystem, and the keynotes from @F_ZK_Now and @IOHK_Charles were more substantive than ever.
Although this year I spent more time with the media (more TradFi outlets than the usual blockchain media), and the questions I got focused on post-quantum security, privacy, and the opportunities (and risks) of agentic AI. This was pretty much the main themes on the mind of publishers and all they wanted to cover.
The good news is Cardano has meaningful work underway in each of these areas, including the treasury-backed @IOGroup research into post-quantum cryptography, @MidnightNtwrk work on programmable privacy, and @MasumiNetwork work on agent identity and payments (to pick on one).
So my main takeaway - Cardano is well positioned based on the trends of the day, outside capital is coming in and teams are levelling up, but as usual there's still plenty to deliver. Upwards!

UPDATE: Coin Bureau's Trading Bureau says "Cardano is one of my biggest investments, and I am a very thorough researcher. $ADA is one of my Top 10 weightings. As we go into a bull market, it will become a large cap, and we are almost at the max supply, with ~80% in circulation."
Day 2 of #TOKEN2049 🇸🇬 is a wrap
And there was quite a bit happening around Cardano again!
🔹The @Cardano_CF announced that its .ada application has advanced to the next phase of
@ICANN’s New gTLD Program. An initiative that is bringing potential .ada top-level domain one step closer. The application follows a Cardano Governance Action that received around 75% community support.
🔹@VeridianID is now an independent company, following its spinout from the Cardano Foundation. The digital identity platform is designed to give people, organisations and AI agents a way to verify identity and authority without relying on a central database.
🔹Veridian also became the first asset to be tokenized using CIP-113, following yesterday’s mainnet launch of the programmable token standard.
🔹@IOHK_Charles took to the TOKEN2049 main stage for Midnight City, exploring @MidnightNtwrk’s privacy-focused infrastructure and how AI agents could act and interact in a digital world.
🔹Cardano Foundation CEO @F_Gregaard joined a fireside chat on transparency, ownership and privacy, where he also spoke about the Veridian spinout.
🔹The TOKEN2049 Origins Hackathon reached its final stage, with 200 builders working on the emerging agentic economy. The Cardano track focused on x402 and @MasumiNetwork, with $27,500 in prizes across three winners. For an overview of the winners, click here: xitter.cf/Cardano_CF/status/2108…
🔹 Meanwhile, the Cardano booth continued its second day of ecosystem showcases, with projects across DeFi, infrastructure, identity, lending, trading and agentic commerce walking attendees through what they're building. Cardano showed up up at token2049 with the biggest presence ever!
🔹And the #Cardano and #Midnight communities continued the conversation beyond the main conference, with Midnight Cafe and Privacy Pitched taking place as part of TOKEN2049 Week.
These are a few highlights from Day 2.
There was plenty more happening across the ecosystem, with two days of builders, projects, announcements and conversations now wrapped up in Singapore.
