If the next startups are about taste then black founders should be fully funded. Taste has always been black culture! Period.

Everyone talks about the grit and determination of immigrants as a negative seemingly becoming a positive or an unfair advantage. If that is the case for immigrants then it must mean that being native American is a disadvantage?

Hot take. Every immigrant to this country should be concerned if American Descendants of Slaves feel like they can’t possess the American Dream.

@garrytan how many 40+ year old founders have been funded by YC ever?

If AI companies are going to give up stakes I think 10% is right. That should tithe back to the country that made it possible.
As to rumors about the gov’t taking stakes in AI companies: 2 conditions MUST be met: (1) voluntary contribution vs. the Bernie forced tax / taking; (2) directly to citizen owned accounts vs. the Bernie slush fund. Coordinated by gov’t - but NEVER owned by gov’t. 🧐💰🇺🇸🚀

Any founder who has begun by making something they themselves wanted will be better at convincing users than investors. Imagine Woz demoing the Apple I to the Homebrew Computer Club or Larry Page demoing BackRub to fellow students vs either pitching a VC.

Most founders are waiting for the perfect moment. There is no perfect moment. There's only the decision you make today. May the 4th be with you. ⚔️ (And may your execution be stronger than your excuses) #MayThe4th #Entrepreneurship

🚨 Our #1 most requested feature is here: You can now export designs from any Stitch agent directly to Figma as editable layers. Vibe Design is perfect for exploring many ideas in minutes. But sometimes, you need that final layer of polish. Now you can move seamlessly between vibe design and polish.

Anybody have any clue why my commit from cursor to github is taking sooo long with only two changes to the code?

a16z Growth Fund Head David George sums up his investment philosophy: “I like to pay fair prices for great companies.” “The art in that, I think, is recognizing where greatness may lie, where other people don't recognize that.” In growth-stage investing, precise forecasts, unit economics, or business models are table stakes analyses that don’t create real edge. True advantage comes from superior product insights, market insights, and people insights. Source: @DavidGeorge83 on @InvestLikeBest with @patrick_oshag youtube.com/watch?v=cZB-0TVR…
.@DavidGeorge83 leads @a16z Growth, which has backed some of the most successful technology companies including Stripe, SpaceX, Waymo, Databricks, Figma, OpenAI, and Cursor. This conversation is a detailed look at how David built and runs the growth business. He shares how they win the most competitive deals, the principles behind its culture, and the framework he uses to evaluate companies. We discuss how a16z is investing across the AI stack -- from model providers to applications -- and why this platform shift creates a real window for startups to displace incumbents. Throughout the episode, David shares the models that guide his investing: why markets misprice consistent growth, what makes "pull" businesses so powerful, and why he likes to back a certain kind of founder he calls the "technical terminator." It’s fun to talk with students of the game, and David is certainly one of them. He's spent his career studying great companies, markets, and founders, and you can feel that depth in how clearly he connects patterns across cycles. Enjoy!
