DSC-MD1 (MD Cyber-shot) is fully supported by the Sony “Digital Still Canera Utility 1.5a”! Official software/cable kit (DSKIT-PC4) is impossible to find - use: archive.org/details/sonydscu… TRS serial cable from MSAC-SR1. Make sure to DISABLE the DSC-F1 compatibility. #minidisc

So yep, looks like #Marathon does support external #MIDI devices just fine! (I've been wondering this for decades and just never got around to trying, but good riddance software Quicktime Musical Instruments!)

Because I am new to this, and the info is lacking, this is my set up: 1) Connect the external box to the modem port 2) Disable AppleTalk or set it to not use the modem port. 3) Install OMS and configure. 4) Setup QuickTime Control Panel Music settings. Hope this helps someone!

In other news, finally found a CLD-PC10 to go with my Pioneer MPC Macintosh clones!

The system is a reskinned CLD-V2800, but with track controls and a display in favor of a Macintosh serial port for use as an external "LD Drive" for Pioneer's MPC series of Macintosh clones from the 90's.

I don't have granular data past the 2 hour mark (I went to sleep), but as you can see, the temperature stabilizes after about 3 hours to around 85-86°F (~30°C). Interstingly, when the disc loops at 1 hour, there's a drop in temperature by about a degree or so. (spin up cooling?)

After my rudimentary testing, I'm personally happy enough with these findings, and maybe others might be less worried about airflow in a sealed (there's literally no vents on this model anyway) metal case.

Also, the hack here is simply moving the stabilizer / back panel down so that the player can slide all the way in, but also helps as it keeps discs from falling out the back. The original pegs for that panel were removed, and leftover wood ones were used after drilling new holes
