I just spent the morning in ED and was shocked at the normalisation of 'corridor care'.
Would surgeons accept two patients in an Opertaing theatre?
Would intensive cares have two patients sharing one cubicle space?
Would oncologists accept other patients in the corner of their consultation and room when breaking bad news?
Of course no to all three - but in A&E we accept corridor care and it's unacceptable
We have to change what's happening to our nhs
The SQSF has been the highlight of my career to date. A wonderful opportunity to learn, network, be inspired, lead and change. Lifelong friendships made too. Please apply! Come ask me if you have questions

Medicine of the elderly colleagues - what would your ideal job plan be if there were no boundaries? Acute frailty in a dedicated frailty unit? Outreach into the ED and across the hospital? Outpatients? QI?
Have been thinking about this in light of recent enforced changes in my workplace....

A systematic review of research on workplace breaks shows that:
1) Regular micro breaks can be better than longer breaks
2) Outdoor breaks & fresh air are better than indoor breaks
3) Scrolling social media is the most common break type but it creates emotional exhaustion
4) Spending a break with a furry companion is beneficial

If we want improvement across a system, we need to hold each other to account for behaviours, not just outcomes. When leaders & teams behave respectfully to each other at work, they create the conditions for improvement far more than any outcome-oriented performance drive: bit.ly/3N5B0X3 Another great blog from @DrNicolaBurgess @WarwickBSchool.
