When children of color need to do this on their weekends to protest being bullied where they live, we can teach the truth : we can talk about how and why race and white supremacy came about to justify land grabbing people stealing that continues to this day #stopAsianHate
Got back from a rally in Malden to support our Asian community

As always, threats of violence are a practice run for real violence #stopAsianHate

This is why we are standing against Sica's racist costume. It's not about hurt feelings. It's about the very real consequences of being dehumanized, to the point where people think it's okay to threaten our lives. #stopAsianHate

Racism kills. At all levels. WE GOT LUCKY. People could have been harmed yesterday, just from peacefully demonstrating.
That's the point. Let racism go, even when seemingly inconsequential, and people will be unrightfully threatened and killed. #stopAsianHate

Indeed, reflecting upon the action, there was a very real possibility that this white dude with his car may have drove into the crowd and injured or killed people.
There were children at the action. This white dude was threatening to kill children. #stopAsianHate

A racist costume is a small act but it still harms. Letting it go without accountability tells everyone that racism is acceptable. Racist white people feel validated. People of color, we fear for our lives. #stopAsianHate

This is why we have to stop racism when it's small. If we don't stop people from doing small racist things, then they will be emboldened to do more and bigger racist acts. #stopAsianHate

One very important point made at this action is that racism kills. People who say racist things aren't afraid to physically threaten people color. Physical violence follows verbal violence. #stopAsianHate

So many thanks to EVERYONE who made it out to Malden yesterday afternoon! My voice is still a little sore from yelling about racism for a few hours but I am so happy that so many people came out to take a stand against racism from our elected officials.
