The V2 is fully modular—repairs are simple, and the airway swaps in seconds with a push-in fitting. We’re adding difficult airways from real case studies, starting with angioedema.
Another feature we’ve added is semi-vertical positioning, so students can now practice awake fibreoptic intubation. We’ve also developed a difficult airway with angioedema—based on a real case—specifically for that scenario.
Airway manikins are often too stiff, making proper laryngoscopy almost impossible. With the V2, after many prototypes and cadaver comparisons, the resistance now feels close to real life. A small detail, but it makes all the difference.
Two weeks ago, we had the chance to take part in the brilliant Neonatal Difficult Airway Course, organised by Dr Alok Sharma and the MPROvE team. Thanks for putting our models through their paces - we learned a lot and came away with some fantastic feedback.
How to damage our newborn model - and what happens next.
Corners of the mouth wear down first (like most models), especially without lube. But repairs are quick and simple. No need to send it back - just glue it, and keep training.

This weekend we’re flying to Southampton to test our newborn model and difficult airway prototypes during a neonatal difficult airway course.

We’re showing new and upcoming models at SESAM 2025 – Booth G1 (MSE).
Airway V.2 – our most realistic adult airway yet
Chest drain – early prototype with unique features
Newborn – now launched and ready to use
Come see them!

We made a simple endotracheal intubation assessment chart. Print it, record yourself, and compare to the checklist. Quick way to improve skills without complex tools. Free on our website → decentsimulators.com/resourc…
In medical training, realism can mean how a simulator looks, how it responds, or how it makes learners feel under pressure. Understanding the difference helps educators design better, more focused simulation experiences.

How can we ensure simulation training translates to real-world skills?
Key factors:
- Simulation fidelity
- Deliberate practice
- Blended learning
- Realism under pressure
