If your company or startup is running engineering with everyone using their own license of Codex/CC then you're going to be completely left behind by fast moving teams who are using cloud-based agents. Local dev is like banging rocks together and grunting versus being on a rocket. Seriously, just pay the money for something like @DevinAI, @AmpCode, @FactoryAI, etc. Do NOT try to build your own "code factory". Props to @DaleSpoonemore for taking @HelloUntangle to the next level on this. Fun to watch.

I'm a former mountain rescue tech and a lot stuff being said about this is incorrect. Quick thread on how backcountry rescue works in the US.
JUST IN: Hiker walks 10 miles down Montana’s tallest mountain after impaling himself on a pole, hoping to avoid a costly helicopter evacuation.

In Colorado, we have access to non-profit, for-profit, and National Guard helicopter operators. The NG and non-profit operators do not charge ever. The for-profit operators can charge based on their own discretion. I have not seen this but I know it can happen.

Support your local SAR team. Self rescue if possible. Don't hesitate to call because of cost (because its probably free). Recreate responsibly.

ast-grep outline is released! It gives you a fast local map of code structure, between grep and a full language server. Syntax aware, no index to maintain, and extensible through declarative extraction rules.

If you're hyper-ambitious but without direction, spend all your time doing this right now: 1. Keep up with what's happening in AI – the latest tools, releases, news. 2. Tinker with vibe coding and AI agents. Continuously try to automate more of your work. 3. Write on LinkedIn and X, or make TikToks. Build your surface area for future optionality. 4. Find your community of equally ambitious people to tinker with and share advice. 5. Push your boundaries of what you believe is possible with technology and media, every single day.

When using AI in large codebases it is almost always prudent to go through a few rounds of refactoring to improve context.

But sometimes it is just better to rewrite the entire codebase from scratch.

I suspect we will rewrite the entire codebase within 6 months anyway.
