What a force. Thank you Gloria for all you have done for us.

The kindest soul who gave us so many songs and children so many books.
The Library is devastated to learn of the passing of @DollyParton, a music legend and titan of children's literacy. Her Imagination Library program has earned multiple Library Literacy Awards and, in 2018, she visited us to donate its 100 millionth book to our collection and host a story time. 🦋❤️

In honor of Edith Roosevelt's birthday, August 6th.
This is her private sitting room and parlor at Sagamore Hill.
She loved to read, do needlework and manage the family's finances.

Claire McCardell was born 121 years ago today, May 24th. Since we published the children's picture book five years ago, more than a few wonderful moments have happened.

I am looking forward to watching the U.S. Open. I started playing tennis, and tennis skirts remind me of Claire McCardell, the American fashion designer who gave us pockets.

Black smoke billows from the chimney above the Sistine Chapel, meaning the 133 Cardinal electors have not yet chosen a new Pope.
For the past three years, I have been speaking at an array of venues including libraries, museums and historical associations about our first ladies, as seen through the eyes of needlework.
Here is a recap.

What a beautiful funeral Mass for the people's Pope. God bless Pope Francis.
Pope Francis' coffin has been entombed.
The Pope's final resting place is the Basilica of St. Mary Major in central Rome.
Hundreds of thousands of people lined the streets to watch as his coffin was brought from the Vatican to the Basilica.
The Pope is the first in over a century to be buried outside the Vatican, and his entombment was a private event, allowing for those closest to him to pay their respects.
