Timeline 27: 1981 - LANARK
After multiple decades of writing and many rejections ‘Lanark’, Gray’s magnum opus is eventually published by Canongate. An instant critical and commercial success, Alasdair’s debut is now considered to be a classic of Scottish and postmodern fiction.

Super excited for this event. Fantastic opening night!
Our opening night in-conversation is with Georgian author Leo Vardiashvili talking about his fantastic debut Hard By A Great Forest, a book that blew us away. We’re so excited - this is the author’s first visit to Northern Ireland and only event.

A huge thank you to Voices for a Better Future and @ElectrifyLIVE - they helped us to create a new animation about support. Input from people with lived experience was crucial, helping us show that everyone has their own pathway to a positive future. If you need help, reach out.
