Mayor Dada Morero is calmly saying that 50 suburbs & townships without water in JNB RIGHT NOW is not a crisis, live on ENCA.
I have been watching political debates for 30 years and I cannot believe what I am seeing. Utterly disgusting and utterly infuriating.

Incredible. ANC elected officials and leaders going after journos for calling on people to do their civic duty.

Guys what are you doing? “Voting results”? An election that has not taken place cannot produce results. A newsroom should not need reminding of this. If these figures come from a poll or projection, identify the source and label them accurately. Presenting voter preferences as votes counted is a serious editorial failure.
You risk establishing a false benchmark against which actual results may later be judged, feeding suspicion when the outcome differs from the expectation your reporting helped create.
Withdraw this post and publish a clear correction. Then examine the editorial controls that allowed it through. Audiences should not have to supervise an "African" broadcaster’s grasp of basic election reporting.
The Democratic Alliance is leading the City of Tshwane voting results with 33.9%, followed by the African National Congress at 24.9%, as residents’ voting preferences emerge. Tune in to #eNCA on #DStv403.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
These figures come from an eNCA MarkData poll asking Tshwane residents who they plan to vote for. They are not voting results. The local elections are on 4 November 2026.

This is ridiculous. I’ve been to cities where it rains all the time but there are no potholes and the grass is cut and trees trimmed. There is just no will to get the basics done. They must keep talking like this and treating people like idiots and I am sure they will get the appropriate reply at the polls.

In 1977, at the SA Hang Ten International, the women's pro surfing final was called 'the comedy interlude'. In 2021 SA's Bianca Buitendag won an Olympic medal for surfing. I went on a quest to find out what happened in between. karavanpress.com/2026/08/12/…

After a very long time, I have a new book. It's narrative non-fiction, inspired by South African women who overcame many challenges to ride waves.

SIR PATRICK STEWART (1940-2026)
Before everything else, Patrick was defined by being born and bred in Yorkshire, the proud county in the north of England which he loved to the end. You could hear it in his accented voice and in the stern honesty with which he told you what he thought and felt. Yorkshiremen have no truck with half-truths or avoidance of big issues. He wore his heart on his sleeve, which made him a man to rely on, to admire and in my case, love.
We first met as ambitious young actors with the Royal Shakespeare Company half a century ago but we weren’t in the same productions. My first strong memory was a few years later, meeting him in the street in central London when he told me about an offer to take over a leading part in 'Star Trek'. “But Patrick think of your stage career in the UK. Do you really want to risk—getting lost in Hollywood for years and years?”. Well, he took the risk and thank goodness for us all that he did for not just his devoted Trekkies but film and theatre audiences, who marvelled at his using international celebrity to star in a string of cinema successes ('X-Men' of course) and in great classical plays by Shakespeare, Ibsen, Arthur Miller, Peter Shaffer, Pinter and Beckett at Stratford-upon-Avon, in London’s West End and on Broadway.
America was his adopted home, where he met his adored Sunny who has cared for him through sickness and health, through thick and thin. But he never forsook his origins: and the proudest achievement of the most respected and beloved actor of his generation on either side of the Atlantic, was his appointment as Chancellor of Huddersfield University in Yorkshire.
His farewell performance in 'Avengers: Doomsday' is yet to be seen.

I have literally spent the last month trekking around Jordan interviewing elderly Nakba survivors and hearing their harrowing stories- and just completed a three hour video interview on Saturday night. No one I talked to left before multiple neighbours or family members had been shot and killed. Few of them had any weapons of any sort to protect themselves and if they did they were ancient Turkish muskets. Their opponents were armed with modern, newly-imported Czech rifles and many had been trained and drilled by the British. It became simply suicidal to remain, though many old people tried to so. The guy I interviewed on Saturday fled with his mother after their village was bombed. Their father remained and was loaded onto a truck to Gaza, at gunpoint, by the Haganah. Many of the family members that remained in Gaza have been killed in the last two years

As I reported hours ago, Flávio Bolsonaro has arrived safely in United States.
The mastermind behind this operation is U.S. Secretary of State @SecRubio .
From the United States, free and safe, Flávio will lead the opposition against Lula.

In addition to being unbelievably racist, this is also (obviously) totally false.

Brazil already has the most aggressive criminal anti-discrimination laws of any democracy in the world. It’s time it shows the way for democratic social media regulation too. Democracies can’t allow foreign authoritarian billionaires use these to intervene in their elections
