“... Fine.” She agreed after a moment, pulling her shawl closer to her chest. Saints, it was cold. “I suppose we do still need a roof over our heads while we’re mastering the kitchen.”

“Alright,” he conceded, scraping the charred waffle from the iron. “We can conquer it. But, let’s not burn down the house in the meantime, yes?”

“Oh..” She frowned, lifting herself up to settle on counter behind them both. Eyeing up Matthias and the less than salvageable waffles on the side. “Well, in my defence, I was always chased away from the kitchens at the little palace. . .”

He chuckled and ducked his head to take the offered piece of waffle with his teeth, his hands were busy putting out the flames and making sure the waffle iron wasn’t damaged. “They are /not/,” he mused, his mouth still a little bit full.

“Please, kitchens are supposed to be a little bit smokey! ... I think.” She managed between mouthfuls, before holding the last piece of the waffle out to him. She had intended to feed them both, after all. “It’s good, I swear it.”

“You are /burning/ the house down!” He managed to get a towel and waved it in the air to dispel the smoke. “How you managed one good one, I do not know.”

Thank the Saints she managed to grab a ( *perfect ) waffle before he forcibly removed her from her work of art. “No, you big oaf, I’m feeding us! This is all perfectly normal when making waffles.”

… so that’s why the kitchen smells like it’s about to burn down. And why he runs out and grabs the woman by her waist and sets her out of the way to deal with the damage. “Are you trying to kill us?!”
