people greatly underestimate how prose is important to children when reading to them. good rhyme helps children stay engaged + active in listening, + helps foster a love of reading! if the prose is clunky awkward to read aloud, how on earth do you expect them to stay interested?

i very much worry for childrens reading skills with the amount of cheaply made ai assisted nursery and preschool books on amazon that parents unknowingly buy. one thing i've also noticed is that the quality of poetic meter in newer books has greatly decreased while volunteering
