ICYMI: I currently have five micro short stories on exhibit as part of the gallery show Living With Worlds (As They End). This story, “Ducts,” is the first I wrote for the collaboration. You can read the rest in the catalogue for the show, here: bit.ly/3vGuDh2

Yesterday I watched Raiders for the first time, and nobody told me these movies were just Reagan-Era Star Wars: Backlash Edition. Same throwback adventure & filmmaking aesthetic, only with flagrantly more racism/sexism, no heroes, and no mission beyond hoarding imperial wealth

The amount of power #SCOTUS is able to exercise over contemporary social disputes is a policy choice by Congress, *not* a constitutional mandate. For 200 years, Congress exercised control over the Court in many ways. Part of why we are where we are is because it doesn’t anymore.

affirmative action wasn't filling colleges with folks of color, that ain't the issue. the issue is what it signals - that structurally our systems are unequal. this is part of a larger project to undermine any idea that suggests racism is built into the design of this country

which is one reason not to privilege the court’s interpretation of the constitution above all others, at least not without a fight

i’m just about finished reading lucas powe’s history of the supreme court and one thing it makes very clear is this has always been the case.
In these big cases, it's never more clear that SCOTUS justices are just bloggers with a law library and law clerks. They're really just slinging takes.

Also note the implication that it was the privileged who were most supportive of remote schooling when every bit of data shows the opposite was true.

I am constantly comparing masks to hand hygiene, in terms of simplicity and effectiveness, but the true bummer of it is that doctors and nurses don’t practice good hand hygiene either. 🫠

The realization that we could significantly reduce transmission of influenza, EBV and other airborne diseases that we thought were just inevitable with simple tools like masks and better air quality should have been a revolutionary step in healthcare. Instead this is happening?

An irony of the “groomer” bullshit is I understood I was trans at 11 but no one in my life talked about transness so to learn about myself I had to use the internet and found stuff that was VERY not age appropriate. Imagine if I could have learned about it from Sesame Street. /1
