ZEC just did something only a handful of assets in crypto history have ever done — and history is loud about what comes next. Last night ZEC closed above $744, its December 2017 cycle high. An 8.5-year-old level. There is now almost no historical price structure left above it. This is price discovery. So I pulled a decade of daily closes and overlaid ZEC's last 300 days onto the only two comparable events in large-cap history: BTC breaking its 2013 high in Feb 2017, and BTC breaking its 2017 high in Dec 2020. Every series indexed to ×1.0 on its ATH-break day. Chart attached. What the overlay shows: 📌 The setups rhyme. All three spent months grinding at 0.3–0.6× the old high, put in a higher low, then accelerated into the break. ZEC's version was just faster and more violent — it bottomed at ×0.27 only 168 days ago. 📌 Day 0 is the launch ramp, not the top. From the exact spot ZEC sits right now (×1.11), BTC 2020 went on to ×3.4 in ~11 months. BTC 2017 went to ×16.5 in ~10. Mapped onto ZEC's $744 break, that range is ~$2,500 to ~$12,000. The steep part of both curves is entirely to the RIGHT of where ZEC stands today. 📌 The playbook post-break is also consistent: expect a retest. BTC 2017 dipped back BELOW its old ATH three weeks after breaking (the March 2017 ETF-rejection fade to ×0.80)… and still did 16x. If ZEC flushes into the low-700s, that's the script, not the failure. Why I think ZEC is the strong version of this setup and not the weak one (XRP broke its 7.5-year high in 2025 and stalled — but it broke exhausted, 7x off its own lows): ▪️ ZEC broke 744 just two months after a −64% crash. Early-leg, not late. ▪️ Zero unlocks, zero insiders, zero VCs. 2016 PoW launch, 78% of supply mined. Daily new supply is ~$1.5M against $800M/day of volume. ▪️ The marginal flows all REMOVE float: Grayscale's spot ETF filing, DCG weighing a ~200k ZEC buy, a Nasdaq-listed miner accumulating, the shielded pool absorbing coins. ▪️ SEC closed its Zcash Foundation investigation without action in January. The revival breaks — old high, multi-year base, fresh institutional catalyst — are the ones that produced the monsters (BTC '17: 17x, DOGE '21: 40x). ZEC's high was 8.5 years old. That's the longest revival break with a real catalyst in the history of large caps. Both BTC cycles' biggest candles landed between day +150 and +300. This is a Q4 story. Position accordingly.
