silena had just finished another conversation with luke⎯⎯the faint shimmer of the iris message still lingering in her mind like something she couldn’t quite scrub away.
there had been nothing new about it. there never was anymore.

Silena approached her with that expression on her face. Marianne was unaware of what was happening; she was unaware of the sacrifices made by her little sister, but she always wanted to be by her sister's side. Marianne was acting as if she were a mother -

she wiped at them almost immediately, turning her face just enough to hide it.
