Replying to @tooearly4birds
@tooearly4birds telling Professor Wangari Maathai’s story.
From her childhood and education to her fight for human rights, peace, democracy and the environment, it beautifully captured the woman behind the icon.
Her story reminds us: we are the Wangari Maathai of today.

What happens to democracy when we lose the spaces that allow us to imagine a different future?
Culture is not separate from politics. It shapes how we understand one another, how we challenge power, and how we imagine the kind of world we want to build.
I’m looking forward to joining the BONN SUMMIT: European Forum on Culture and Politics, taking place 16–18 September at the Bundeskunsthalle in Bonn.
I’ll be part of a conversation on “Cosmopolitanism and Global Community.Sustainable Concepts for a Coexistence Based on Solidarity within Planetary Boundaries”
At a time of deepening inequality, geopolitical uncertainty and ecological crisis, we urgently need to bring artists, activists, thinkers, policymakers and civil society together to rethink solidarity and strengthen our shared capacity for action.
I hope to see many of you in Bonn.

1⃣year ago, the @CIJ_ICJ delivered a landmark Climate Advisory Opinion. But this story didn't begin in The Hague.
It began with Pacific & world's youth, communities on the frontlines of climate change & a global movement that believed the law could better reflect #ClimateJustice.

Before she was outfitting Hollywood legends, Marci Rodgers (BBA ’05) was a marketing student on The Yard, refining the courage, tenacity, and creative nerve that would take her to the top of the entertainment industry.
Now, the Howard alumna is the visionary costume designer behind Lionsgate’s record-breaking blockbuster, Michael—meaning the wardrobe of the highest-grossing biopic of all time has Howard University DNA stitched into every single seam.
From the signature crystallized glove to the legendary red leather "Thriller" jacket, Marci executed every look with absolute precision. She credits her unyielding work ethic to the foundation laid right here at HU, particularly the life-changing mentorship of the late Howard Fine Arts professor Reggie Ray. Marci’s journey proves once again that what is formed on The Yard changes the culture worldwide.

Dear friends, I am sharing this significant step forward from the first International Conference on Transitioning Away from Fossil Fuels in Santa Marta.
The official Co-Hosts’ Outcome Report, released by the Governments of Colombia and the Netherlands, is the most comprehensive multilateral document yet on transitioning away from fossil fuels. It reflects what we have seen on the ground, a growing international support that moves the discussion from why we must phase out fossil fuels to how we do so in a fast, fair and funded way.
The next steps is now clear. This momentum must be translated into stronger international cooperation and a @fossiltreaty
