Open source isn't free. It just moves the bill. You don't pay the vendor, so you pay engineers to understand it, maintain it, secure it and fix it when it breaks. DeFi did the same thing to finance. Permissionless ≠ accessible. If users need to understand smart contracts, bridges, oracles, MEV and liquidation mechanics before safely using a financial product, you've moved the complexity onto the customer. The next phase of crypto isn't necessarily more decentralization. It's better abstraction. Keep the blockchain open. Hide the complexity.

There is a lot of talk that funding is dead and capital has dried up. Everyone says funding is tight. That hasn't been my experience. In 2026 alone, I've worked with two startups that received term sheets. One already had commercial traction. The other was still pre-traction. (Both outcomes are documented and verifiable.)
