I don't think people panning the Caps for the PLD trade truly appreciate how bad Kuemper is. Getting that contract ($5.25x3) off the books is massive, and worth the risk premium you're paying for PLD's upside at a position of desperate need.

Two things can be (are) true: 1) The Caps are a mediocre (at best) team that was badly outplayed and didn’t deserve even a single point, and 2) The Caps got completely fucked by the officiating in the third period because the opposing coach effectively works the refs.
