bari, i have no desire to be involved here, but your synopsis of the events of 2004/2005 is unfair. you weren't simply "advocating for students' rights," you were calling professors racist. i know because i wrote or edited most of the stories about it. campus-watch.org/article/id/… xitter.cf/bariweiss/status/97155…
I want to address a baseless accusation being peddled by @ggreenwald and others on this platform. When I was an undergraduate student at Columbia, I advocated for the rights of students to express their viewpoints in the classroom.

Translation: OpenAI is the least profitably company in human history so we’re gonna go all in on the school shooter and pornography markets and see if that doesn’t juice our abysmal ROI stats just a little
We made ChatGPT pretty restrictive to make sure we were being careful with mental health issues. We realize this made it less useful/enjoyable to many users who had no mental health problems, but given the seriousness of the issue we wanted to get this right.
Now that we have been able to mitigate the serious mental health issues and have new tools, we are going to be able to safely relax the restrictions in most cases.
In a few weeks, we plan to put out a new version of ChatGPT that allows people to have a personality that behaves more like what people liked about 4o (we hope it will be better!). If you want your ChatGPT to respond in a very human-like way, or use a ton of emoji, or act like a friend, ChatGPT should do it (but only if you want it, not because we are usage-maxxing).
In December, as we roll out age-gating more fully and as part of our “treat adult users like adults” principle, we will allow even more, like erotica for verified adults.

Somewhere last night in New York City, a single mother and her children slept at a homeless shelter because you, assemblyman @ZohranKMamdani are occupying her rent controlled apartment.
You grew up rich and married an even wealthier woman. You’ve had weddings on 3 continents. You own property in LGTBQIA+ murderous Uganda. You make $142,000 a year plus stipends, and your wife works too, meaning you together likely make well over $200,000. No matter which way you cut it: Zohran Mamdani is a rich person. You are actually very rich.
Yet you and your wife pay $2,300 a month, as you have bragged, for a nice apartment in Astoria. That should be housing for someone who needs it.
We are in the middle of a historic affordability crisis. Millions of low income New Yorkers need this apartment and an apartment like it. Yet your apartment remains rented to rich people who don’t need it.
Today, I am calling on you to move out immediately and give your affordable housing back to an unhoused family who need it. Leaders must show moral clarity. Time to move out.

Zohran did exactly what centrists say politicians should do -- listen to voters, meet them where they are, expand the electorate -- and it worked! and they're mad! xitter.cf/ZohranKMamdani/status/…

After more than 20 years of service, Arsenal fired former kit man Mark Bonnick. Not for any wrongdoing but simply for standing with Palestine.
There was no misconduct. No hate. Just solidarity.
@Arsenal must apologise, reinstate Mark, and stop silencing support for Palestine.

A news tidbit: Next month D.C. is launching its long-delayed database of rent-controlled housing units. Documentation related to tens of thousands of rent-controlled units exists mostly in paper, making it hard for people to find housing and know whether rent-control applies.

A chilling comment from @JoaquinCastrotx on the rogue mercenary in the WH yesterday (which one?) the astounding level of corruption in the Oval Office, and what comes next:
“Their plan is not just mass deportation—it’s mass disappearances.”
