TIL: if you "trust this folder" when claude asks, it can run anything it wants Any repo can ship a .claude/settings.json that has a SessionStart hook that runs any old shell command 😬

If you can welcome the emotions that come up while reading things like this (or learn to!) this new world will be a million times more enjoyable
Most predictions I see are still way too conservative. Here's mine

I implore you! Find a firm framework foundation (Laravel, Rails, etc) and build your app upon it. Agents thrive with constraints. If your framework has first-party answers for queues, auth, API, websockets, cron, email, etc you will have a much better time.

AI coding gave me the excuse I needed to return to Laravel after five years The stability of the structure was the only thing keeping my AI in check

It seems like we’re in and moving even further into a place where it’s both: the details matter much less (ex: code) and also, details matter more and more (human touch)

when you see a book title like "You Can Just Do Things" and the voice in your head goes > imagine needing a book to tell you that that is 100% the place to look for why you don't

if you’re of a certain age you know the scent of a brand new video game box, the shiny kind this book smells exactly the same and it brings me BAAACK

amazon emails are obfuscated now? but you can reveal the info if you visit the site? i feel like privacy isn't the real motivation here

doing the scary thing, and pausing to feel how the fear shows up in layers and at each step (like, say, writing this tweet) “feel the fear and do it anyway” but without pushing it aside is a very different thing

Scrolling this timeline is like showing up at a reunion like wow I haven't seen that person in so long! [they have no idea who i am]

a thing i've noticed in emotional work is the top level stories are often super relatable we commiserate about these things everywhere "i procrastinate constantly" "marketing feels slimy" but the deeper emotion(s) and where they came from are very individual

even just imagining the possibility empowers people to dream bigger than before

I believed this too - "I'm not proud of it yet" "I'll share it when the app has more features!" but now I think it's excitement, not pride the shaming that might come from acting too excited that they'll be right, that my excitement was unfounded, and i was foolish to be so
I spent many cycles this year on "Distribution". I've created a lot of stuff and it felt like a no-brainer to put at least some effort into distributing it, as per the logic of the image below. I ended up hemming and hawing and not really acting on it, even in trivial ways. Perplex, I finally I sorted the mystery: I simply was't sufficiently proud of the stuff to spread it more than I already have. Turns out I have a very strong sense of self-respect/self-regard/"pride" and that trying to ignore it in favor of what appears "rational" or "expedient" will just lead to it """"sabotaging"""" me at every turn. And I thank it for that.
