Thomas Sowell explains why promoting equity can lead to the opposite of what it promises. Equal outcomes don’t guarantee fairness, and forcing them can create even more problems.

“A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops.” - Henry Adams Henry Adams (1838–1918) was an influential American historian, author, and intellectual whose writings explored education, human behavior, history, and the powerful forces shaping society. Born into one of America’s most prominent political families, he was the great-grandson of President John Adams and the grandson of President John Quincy Adams. His most celebrated work, The Education of Henry Adams, was an autobiographical exploration of the shortcomings of traditional education and the difficulties of making sense of a world undergoing rapid transformation. In 1919, the book received the Pulitzer Prize posthumously, cementing his place in American literary history. Adams believed that genuine education extended far beyond the walls of a classroom. He recognized that learning was a lifelong process shaped by personal experiences, relationships, and the people who influence our thinking. His reflections on teaching emphasized that an educator’s impact rarely ends when a student leaves the classroom. Instead, the knowledge, values, and inspiration passed from teacher to student can continue influencing lives for generations, often in ways neither person could ever anticipate. Throughout his career, Adams examined the complicated connections between knowledge, political power, technological advancement, and social change. He questioned conventional beliefs and challenged readers to reconsider how people learn, adapt, and understand the world around them. More than a century after his death, Henry Adams continues to be remembered for his intellectual curiosity, sharp historical perspective, and willingness to challenge established ideas. His legacy serves as a reminder that education is not simply about acquiring information but about shaping minds, inspiring future generations, and creating an influence that can extend far beyond one’s own lifetime.

“Anyone who really wants the truth, ends up at Jesus.” - Johnny Cash Johnny Cash shared this perspective while reflecting on the spiritual transformation of his close friend Bob Dylan, who embraced Christianity in the late 1970s and went on to release several gospel-inspired albums. Cash believed that anyone who sincerely searched for life’s deeper meaning and ultimate truth would eventually find their way to Jesus Christ and His teachings. Having endured his own struggles with addiction and personal hardship, Cash understood the importance of faith in overcoming life’s darkest moments. Christianity became a central part of his identity, providing him with strength, purpose, and a foundation for his beliefs. His words reflected not only his deeply rooted religious convictions but also his understanding of Dylan’s spiritual journey. For Cash, the pursuit of truth was more than an intellectual exercise; it was a deeply personal experience that he believed ultimately led to Christ.

How to be a great teammate: Lead yourself first. Own your attitude and effort, every day. Put the team's win ahead of your role. Humility > ego. Be coachable when it stings. Make the people around you better. Talent makes you valuable. Being a great teammate makes you trusted.

Razorback “BMW” club members. “Shut up or put up.” How about making significant donations to compensate players rather than playing “coach” and criticizing EVERY SINGLE DECISION. By the way, If you don’t know what the BMW club is, you’re in it! @RazorbackFB

Leadership isn’t avoiding blame. It’s accepting responsibility. Before you correct the player, correct the process. What did we miss? What wasn’t clear? What could we have prepared better? Accountability begins with ownership.
