Oh well, it could have been so different☹️. Somewhere, deep down, I am still driving my powder blue Sunbeam Alphine Mk II Cabrio along the French Riviera with Cary Grant.
I saw this at an art museum in Adelaide. Was not so much impressed with the artwork, but the sign was memorable. The more and more I think about it…

Waikiki beach, Hawaii. This girl just appeared with a harp and started to play, facing the sunset. Magical.

I realise there is a limit to decoration that I like. I lived in Worcester. The area around there were rich with original Tudor (wattle and daub) buildings. Mostly because there was no stone to quarry like the Cotswolds. This building in Friar street is actually my favourite, as I just imagined the marital bed being on the left…

Interesting, modern Russia - or should I say Putin - hark back to imperial times. But two things have changed.
Information about a war on the frontline can reach the rest of the world almost immediately. So a vicious, brutal war - think Bucha, Mariupol - just won’t stick with right minded people.
And then, distance ain’t what it was. Both Hitler and Napoleon became unstuck by the sheer distance and weather. Ukraine has shown that modern drone warfare reduces that to almost nothing.
Putin’s ‘special military operation’ has now lasted longer than WW1 and killed millions of people. The problem for him is, if he gets out, er, he will be out.

Yes, no one quite knew what to make of a Belgian - and many jokes followed.
We knew vaguely that the Flemish (Dutch revisited) and the Walloons ( French) did not quite get along - the Flemish making more beer and the Walloons more cheese. And everyone forgets there is a small German bit too. Famous people include Tintin, Poirot and Jacques Brel. Only one is not fictional - always part of the problem of identity. And perhaps they are now faced with people moving there who are uber confident about their own identity, but very far removed from anything almost any Belgian ever stood for, and becoming the dominant force in the country.🤷

Roman concrete could repair its own cracks.
Some Roman buildings have stood for 2,000 years, while modern concrete can start to crumble within decades. For a long time, scientists did not fully understand why.
The Romans made their concrete from lime, water and volcanic ash from the area around Pozzuoli, near Naples. The ash reacted with the lime and created a material that grew stronger over time instead of weaker.
In 2023, a team from MIT led by Admir Masic found another piece of the puzzle, small white lumps of lime scattered through the concrete.
Scientists had always thought these lumps were a sign of careless mixing. In fact, they were the repair kit. When a crack forms and rainwater gets in, the lime dissolves and refills the crack with new mineral, sealing it from the inside.
The secret was “hot mixing.” Instead of using slaked lime, the Romans added quicklime directly to the mix. It heated up as it reacted with water and left these lumps behind on purpose.
To test the idea, the team cracked samples of concrete made with the Roman method and let water run through them. Within two weeks, the cracks had sealed completely. In concrete made without the lime lumps, the water kept flowing.
Roman harbour concrete went even further. Pliny the Elder wrote that once it touched the waves, it became a single block of stone that grew stronger every day. In 2017, geologist Marie Jackson showed he was right, seawater slowly grows rare crystals inside the concrete that hold it together.
I just need to point out, if you want anything done around the house, farm or the town, here is the comparison between the Marines and an Eastern European Mama.🤷

American an European friends,
I’m so ashamed, but you need to see what France has become.
Don’t make the same mistakes we did.
The only peaceful solution is to send them back to their countries of origin they love so much.
We cannot coexist. It will be them, or us.

We are lacking in leaders. People with a vision on how to make things better for their people. Take responsibility and is the hardest worker - the servant leader concept.
They have been taken over by managers and administrators. And these people think leading is about more administration and rules. And because things don’t get better, they think doing more and more of it will lead to improvement. If you are taught how to swim in the wrong way, doing more and more of it, will make you better at being a bad swimmer.

A new character has entered the Gaza narrative and her name is SCRUTINY. With the exposure of frauds who were elevated as activists and Gazan “journalists”, the backing away by foreign governments in the ICJ case and the emerging lawsuit against the New York Times, people are now slowly beginning to ask: was I ever allowed to question the narrative I’m being fed.
