If you are in Denver for ETS then finish your week with a flourish by coming along to an excellent panel with me and Jon Thompson, Alden McCray and @RTSCharlotte's very own @dblairsmith. I'll be presenting on the topic of 'God as Absolute Personality'. See you there - Thursday PM
I couldn't be more grateful for McNulty's addition to the @ReformTheoSem Board of Trustees. He brings years of godly, seasoned experience in the legal and educational spheres together with decades as a churchman. These will serve very well to contribute wise leadership for RTS's mission to equip leaders--especially pastors--for Christ's Church.
If you are in the Charlotte area, on October 30 we will be hosting a conference on Christian leadership led by Paul McNulty and @RevKevDeYoung. Info and registration can be found here:

It was wonderful to be with young men (and their pastors) who are discerning a call to pastoral ministry @twinlakescamp with the @ReformTheoSem Kaleo Project.
Pray for these men as they reflect on the talks and many conversations. Pray that God will work his good will in their lives and raise up shepherds for Christ's Church.
Dr. @dblairsmith, President of @RTSCharlotte is up at the @ReformTheoSem Kaleo Conference at @twinlakescamp speaking on “How do I prepare for the ministry?”
Come join us and check out @RTSCharlotte on October 27th. It's a beautiful time of year to be in Charlotte and on our campus!
Twenty days remain until our annual Fall Preview Day!

This is a new short video series on leadership. In this one I speak about Jethro--"a leader behind a leader."
In our new series, Lessons in Leadership, Dr. Blair Smith explores leadership throughout the Bible and what Scripture reveals about those called to lead.
In Episode 1, “Overlooked Leadership in the Bible,” Dr. Smith looks at leaders and acts of leadership that can be easy to miss.

What is unique about the early church?
In the first episode of Christian History Up Close, Dr. Chad Van Dixhoorn offers a glimpse of some of the difficulties the early church faced compared to what the church today experiences.
Despite temperatures north of 90° (the last gasps of summer!), @RTSCharlotte students enjoyed a hot dog roast today for lunch around our new fire pit—a great tradition as we had in to fall temperatures.
My co-editor Zach Cole and I are excited to publish the Fall issue of @RTSRFandP -- a free online journal from @ReformTheoSem.
This issue's articles look at Faith & Work, especially vocational discipleship through a biblical lens. There's also book reviews by Mike Allen, @proginosko, and Bill Fullilove. Check it out here:

The obituary for Dr. Oliver is now available: dignitymemorial.com/obituari…
At @RTSCharlotte we mourn the loss of Dr. John W. P. Oliver, though we do not mourn without hope. He is now with his blessed Savior, whom he loved and about whom he preached and taught throughout his ministry. It was my privilege to study under Dr. Oliver as a student. See article below.

Reformed Theological Seminary mourns the passing of Dr. John W. P. Oliver, Professor of Homiletics and Practical Theology Emeritus at RTS Charlotte.
Dr. Oliver joined the RTS Charlotte faculty in 1999 after nearly 35 years in pastoral ministry, including 29 years as senior pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Augusta, Georgia. During his years at RTS, he taught preaching, worship, sanctification, and missions, bringing the wisdom of a longtime pastor into the classroom.
Students who studied under Dr. Oliver often remembered his emphasis on the “primacy of preaching,” a conviction that reflected his commitment to keeping the proclamation of God’s Word central to pastoral ministry.
We give thanks to God for Dr. Oliver’s life and service and join his family, former students, colleagues, and friends in mourning his passing with the hope of the resurrection.

"Love is never abstract. It does not adhere to the universe or the planet or the nation or the institution or the profession, but to the singular sparrows of the street, the lilies of the field, 'the least of these my brethren'. Love is not, by its own desire, heroic. It is heroic only when compelled to be. It exists by its willingness to be anonymous, humble, and unrewarded." ~Wendell Berry, 'Word and Flesh'
A wise poet has passed, and we are the lesser for it.
