You may have said the Hail Holy Queen for years without stopping at the line an exorcist says made a demon weep. Tonight, put your child's name beside that request.
Fr. Chad Ripperger, an exorcist, described a session in which one passage from St. Luke kept provoking the same response: your name is written in heaven.
"EVERY TIME I WOULD SAY THAT PART IN LATIN, THAT YOUR NAME IS WRITTEN IN HEAVEN, THIS DEMON WOULD JUST START BAWLING."
Asked why, the answer he recounts was that its own name was not written there.
Earlier in the same account, Fr. Ripperger reported what this fallen angel claimed it had been created to do:
"I WAS THE ANGEL THAT WAS CREATED TO HEAD THE HIERARCHY OF ANGELS THAT WAS CREATED FOR OUR LADY."
He told it to apologize to those angels for falling. The reply was that there were an awful lot of them. Then he pressed the point: its name would have been written next to hers.
Another familiar line brought the same reaction. In the Salve Regina, the Hail Holy Queen, we ask Our Lady to turn her eyes toward us. Fr. Ripperger asked why that line mattered.
He recounts this answer:
"IF HER EYES ARE UPON YOU, YOUR SALVATION IS ASSURED."
That is reported speech attributed to a demon, not Church teaching or a promise of salvation. Demons lie. A prayer is not a guarantee, and this story is not a substitute for living the faith.
Fr. Ripperger added:
"WHEN WE'RE IN THIS STATE OF GRACE, AND GOD IS INDWELLING IN OUR SOULS, SHE WANTS TO LOOK UPON OUR SOULS."
The practical invitation is simple. Do not rush past a prayer you already know.
Tonight, say it slowly, out loud. At "thine eyes of mercy toward us," pause and name your children and grandchildren. Then finish. If you need confession, make time for it this week too.
Here is a suggested prayer, not another quotation from the talk:
"Most gracious advocate, turn thine eyes of mercy toward us tonight. Look on my child ___, wherever they are, whatever they are carrying. Keep your eyes on them tonight, and at the hour of their death. Mother, pray for them. Amen."
One familiar line. Their names. A moment you do not hurry through.

Vandals broke into the centuries-old Saint Helena Sanctuary in Siniscola over the weekend and tore it apart. The church had sat closed for years amid a legal dispute.

The pure joy, harmony, and brotherly bond they share genuinely warm my heart.
I say this all the time: I truly believe Catholic priests and religious are the most selfless people on earth.
They willingly embrace celibacy and, in many cases, a life of poverty and sacrifice, all out of love for God and His Church. They give up so much of what the world considers important to dedicate their lives entirely to serving God and His people.
I can't do it. God knows! 😂
And that is exactly why I have such profound respect for them. They have a very special place in my heart, all of them. ❤️🔥🙏🏾
