Busy weekend at the @europeangreens #Lisbon Congress. Three Irish candidates for EU positions, five resolutions and green leaders and members from across the continent sharing ideas.

This is an absolute disaster. Taking away money from ready-to-go public transport projects so that they can chuck more cash at new roads.
The exact opposite direction we should be going.
(Plus: the more you delay projects, the more they cost. Every time.)

DART+ South West is shelved until 2030. It has full planning approval since 2024, no judicial reviews and is ready to go but construction won't start until after 2030. A lot of housing around Adamstown and Clonburris built in anticipation of this upgrade.
The EU's Housing Advisory Board has released it's report on how to get more #Housing across Europe

EU Housing Advisory Board’s report dropped today. Some solid proposals:
🏘️ Promote Cost Rental model
💶 'Site Value' Taxes
📖 Amend State aid rules
🌵 Limit speculation
🏡 Better, not less planning
Now, let’s act

Historical image BELOW! The political parties that have built and governed Europe since its inception are being sidelined in the EU Parliament today. They bear responsibility for their own demise.
Today's vote on the Omnibus Simplification Directive not only dismantles the Green Deal but also redefines the political majority governing Europe from now until 2029.
As of tomorrow, von der Leyen's political majority will be the right and far-right only, with devastating repercussions for the EU's economy, society, and democratic foundations - while giving Trump's administration a free hand in Brussels.
It's a short-sighted, self-defeating move for the EU EUCO injecting the same unpredictability that the Simplification agenda was meant to avoid!
Come work with me!
We're hiring!
The Party is looking for a Press and Strategic Communications Officer to help us shape and get our message out more effectively.

Look at those weekend dips, followed by a huge fall at the end of the school year. I guess OpenAI is mainly a school cheating/learning tool.

Today's opinion by the International Court of Justice on Climate is huge. It establishes for the first time an obligation in international law that states must meet the commitments they signed up to in climate treaties, and work with each other doing this

Tonight the Greens are ending a bad tax cut in Dublin City Council. We want to invest instead.
We'll be raising money to insulate social housing, bring derelict properties into use, offer pprenticeships, and build zebra crossings.
Fixing Dublin = Investing in Dublin

Important: in an options paper prepared for Foreign Ministers, the EU has recognised - to my mind for the first time ever - that an individual EU MS (🇮🇪) may ban trade with Israel’s illegal settlements under the “public policy” derogation in EU law. @tconnellyRTE @jackpowerIT

A sad day for democracy in the European Parliament.
The EPP just broke the cordon sanitaire, forming a coalition with the extreme right to commit a coup, allocating two migration laws.
This is a new low: sacrificing human rights and the rule of law for political games.

Greens joined thousands of marchers at #DublinPride today.
Pride is a protest, and we marched in solidarity with our brothers + sisters in #Budapest + #Ballymena in particular this year

Green Party leader @rodericogorman joined RTÉ's Morning Ireland to discuss his attendance at the banned Budapest Pride this weekend.
We are proud to stand in solidarity with the LBGTQ+ community when their rights are under attack by far-right regimes across the globe.
Both electionsireland.org/ @ElectionsIRL and irelandelection.com @IrelandElection are down now.
This is my Library of Alexandria moment 😭 They should be taken into public ownership

Sean O'Driscoll's comments on public transport investment are not compatible with his membership of the new Infrastructure Taskforce.
We are left with the question of whether his continued membership of this taskforce is tenable.

Shhh - quiet down the back.
(A quiet video on what the Greens want to do to improve Ireland's public transport.)

Retrofitting your home will save you money.
It's ludicrous that Clive & Samantha Ryan had to apply for planning permission to retrofit.
We're calling for:
1. an exemption on planning permission to retrofit homes
2. specific grants to encourage neighbours to retrofit together
