Lovely long queues at Prague Airport for non-eu nationals. Wait yesterday varied between 3.5 and 2.5 hours. So far today for us 1.15, with probably another 45 mins to go. Can't understand how the CZ tourist industry puts up with it. @SimonCalder @VisitCZ

9 dead now, one critical in a matter of days - all due to 'turf wars' Sickening thing is the lack of reaction from Reform - the cosplay Home Secretary used the deaths only to attack the Government on crime - he did not even express sorrow for the police families - just his anger.... We all know that if the youths had been of a different ethnicity he would have published three books on X alone by now He described himself as a lethal electoral threat - he is to the well being of the country Middlesbrough 'risks descending into carnage' after 'gangland revenge house fire murder' of seven-year-old girl and her aunt 'linked to A66 crash that killed five youths and two police officers' mol.im/a/16083003 via @DailyMail

By popular demand. Escape to England. In today's episode, a high faluting couple who have ideas above their station are looking for a large pile in the countryside, surrounded by trees. As they value their privacy. 😜 They've just returned from a stint in her home of California. But he never settled there. The sun wasn't good for his complexion. 🥵 They have an unlimited budget as they have family money. His family. 😬 They want at least 8 bedrooms and bathrooms as they have two little faceless children and staff to help the Missus of the house wash out jars for her jam making business. He wants..........well, everything really. As long as he doesn't have to pay for it. Although a library would be nice for him to store his law tomes, all on the subject of litigation against the British press. He's newly qualified in this subject, so we're told. Property 1. Central London. Buckingham something or the other. The Missus likes this one as it's near all the shops but worries getting about will be a nightmare thanks to the Mayor's traffic calming measures. They're ruling this one out. Property 2. Somewhere in Norfolk. On an estate owned by the King of England is a large country house where their nearest neighbour would be a 60 something divorced man who lives a hermit like existence. So they wouldn't be troubled by the neighbours. The Mister is worried there's not enough accommodation for all his protection officers. So that's a no then. 🙄😬 Property 3. Berkshire. There's a castle near this one and a large house in the grounds called Frogmore Cottage. But the Missus thinks it's a bit small and it was only refurbished a couple of years ago so might need work. The Mister and Missus vow to continue their search and are planning to visit his uncle Charles very soon to ask his opinion on the properties. And budget. 💷 The Missus is busy practising her doe eyes and polishing, not only her begging bowl, but her life story entitled 'Woe is Me' in the vain hope it'll bring in a few more bob to add to their budget. Failing that, his Pa has always been a soft touch. 🤣

BREAKING: HELL YEAH! CNN boldly defends their reporter Kristen Holmes after the White House brought up her kids to smear her after she dared ask Trump about his alleged mistress. This is how you stand up to this demented bully... “Kristen Holmes is one of the most respected and accomplished journalists covering the White House. This afternoon, she did her job and asked the President of the United States a tough, relevant, and newsworthy question on behalf of the American people," CNN said in an official statement. "Public officials are free to challenge reporting they disagree with, but personal attacks on journalists for asking questions are beneath the office and inconsistent with the principles of a free press. We stand firmly behind Kristen and reject these attacks in the strongest possible terms," the network added. Yesterday, Holmes asked Trump about a viral speech from Senator Jon Ossoff in which he stated that Trump "doesn’t want to do the job” and would rather “build his ballroom and travel with Natalie on their apparently defenseless flying palace gifted by the emir of Qatar." The reference to Harp — the "executive assistant" who many are now speculating might be Trump's mistress — enraged the President and he lashed out at Holmes, repeatedly telling her to be "quiet," calling her "disrespectful" and "fake news." The memo went out to MAGA land to back up Trump's attack, and the official White House Rapid Response account on X targeted Holmes, writing: "@KristenhCNN: Someday, your children will come across your disgusting and inhumane question. They will be sickened and embarrassed to have a parent be so callous and vindictive. It’s quite troubling." We commend CNN for standing up in the face of this disgusting smear campaign against an upstanding reporter. There is really only one big takeaway here: reporters need to start asking more questions about Natalie Harp. Please ❤️ and share to urge the press to ask more questions about Natalie!

oh look a lesson from a man who never put a uniform on..just worked at bank. A man who is literally making policy and facts up. A man who cant even get his own party to pick him as an MP ( tell us why please?). When Reform stop taking £5m bungs and start being honest with people then people might take you seriously. No one is saying dont send prisoners back when you can but dont lie to the public you can do it with a magic wand. You guys are getting desperate. After all you recruited Suella!

🚩🚩🚩 This is getting very disturbing. The Sunday Times has been investigating the money surrounding Farage, Cottrell and Reform. Farage & Tice are now suing the NCA over alleged leaks. And Arron Banks appears to admit commissioning private investigators to investigate the Sunday Times journalist leading the investigation, responding: “When you live by the sword, you die by the sword.” Don’t lose sight of what’s happening here. Journalists scrutinise politicians. Politicians and their wealthy backers should answer the questions not turn the scrutiny onto the journalists asking them. That’s what a free press is for.

It’s all kicking off on the Maldon (Essex) groups about four suspected migrants who were spotted jumping out of a lorry earlier, with people insisting that the men are about to be given mobile phones, a house, and even ‘£10,000 cash.’ As you can imagine, I couldn’t resist …

Donald Trump is coming to California for the first time in 18 months — not to deliver the federal disaster aid Los Angeles wildfire survivors have been waiting for, but to raise money for himself and attack California with the same tired falsehoods. Want to talk about crime? Since Governor Gavin Newsom took office, crime has fallen across EVERY major category: homicides are down 20% (the lowest rate since 1966), robberies are down 31%, property crime is down 24%, motor vehicle theft is down 19%, and violent crime is down 3%. gov.ca.gov/2026/07/01/crime-… Want to talk about fraud? California has been rooting out fraud and holding bad actors accountable for years — not pardoning them. See for yourself: StopFraud.CA.Gov. Want to talk about taxes? Working families pay less HERE than states like Texas and Florida. And Californians are paying more at the pump because of Trump’s war with Iran, which drove up the cost of gas and groceries for working families across the country. itep.org/low-tax-for-whom-ca… More than anything, we’d like the President to keep the promise he made on January 24, 2025: to “take care of Los Angeles.” 18 months later, survivors are still waiting. And while you’re here, Mr. President, welcome to the world’s fourth-largest economy — growing faster than Texas and Florida combined. Enjoy your stay.
TOMORROW: President Trump will visit California to tout his wins for the people of the Golden State despite failed Democrat leadership. The President will draw a sharp contrast between his commonsense agenda and the radical policies of Democrats like Gavin Newsom, who keep raising taxes, inviting rampant fraud in taxpayer-funded programs, and protecting illegal immigrant drug dealers, rapists, and murderers. nypost.com/2026/08/03/us-new…

Seventy-two. That is how many separate wounds John Cruickshank had in him, two of them through his lungs, while he lined up a burning flying boat for a second run at a U-boat that had just shot his aircraft to pieces. Most men have one of those wounds and they are finished. He had seventy-two and he pressed the attack. He was 24, a former bank clerk from Aberdeen, flying a Catalina flying boat out of the Shetland Islands with Coastal Command. The job was the long, freezing, mind-numbing patrol, fourteen hours over the grey Atlantic hunting the U-boats that were strangling Britain. On the 17th of July 1944, far out over empty water, they caught one on the surface, U-361, and Cruickshank took the big slow flying boat down to attack. The first run failed. The depth charges would not release. Any sane man makes a note and turns for home. Cruickshank swung the aircraft around and came back for a second pass, low and straight, and this time the submarine's gunners were waiting. Flak ripped through the Catalina. It killed the navigator, wounded half the crew, and tore into Cruickshank again and again, those seventy-two wounds, two punching into his lungs, ten into his legs. And he flew the attack home anyway. Bleeding everywhere, in agony, with the fuselage holed and on fire, he held the aircraft dead level, aimed, and released the depth charges himself. They straddled the U-boat perfectly. It broke apart and sank beneath him. Then came the part that should have killed him. He collapsed from blood loss, and the wounded co-pilot, who had never landed a Catalina, took the controls for the long flight back. Cruickshank refused the morphine that would have knocked him out, because he knew the man flying needed him. Drifting in and out, he had himself carried back up to the cockpit again and again through the night to help nurse the shot-up aircraft down, and at dawn they got it onto the water safely. He had lost so much blood the doctors said he had no business being alive. He lived. He took the Victoria Cross from the King, went quietly back to banking after the war, and rarely spoke of it. And he kept on living, and living, and living. John Cruickshank died in 2025 at the age of 105, the last man on earth wearing a Victoria Cross earned in the Second World War. Seventy-two wounds over the Atlantic, and he outlasted every other hero of that war by decades.

If Andy Burnham is willing to use political capital to sort out social care so am I.
If we are ever going to fix social care, we need to work across party lines. I've invited @AndyBurnham to sit down once he becomes Prime Minister, in hopes of finally solving this crisis which takes such a toll on families, our NHS and our economy. There is no time to waste.
