So many days when the words don't come and the phone ain't ringing. But yesterday, spoke to an Oscar-winning producer about a script I wrote, and swapped emails with an Oscar-winning director on a project I developed. Embrace the highlights, and use them as fuel for the low days.

How is it possible that, 30 years into his career, #Beck has never written any anthems to his hometown of LA? Seems like such a natural fit for him.

That Justin Baldoni - Blake Lively movie should be retitled "It NEVER Ends With Us."

We talked to the cofounder of Watch Duty, which has become an essential app in LA for tracking the wildfires: - It's a 501(c)(3) nonprofit largely supported by volunteers - Has had 100% uptime (and no mistaken evac notices vs the local gov sending THREE accidentally) - Over 1m downloads this week with plans to expand to more of the US/oversees - “We view what we are doing as a public service.”

Just a reminder for those among us who got led to believe that the Democrats were the ones holding back on disaster aid .... and that cats and dogs were being eaten by illegal migrant Haitians in Springfield ... and that Covid was a hoax.

Michael de Adder was fired in Halifax Nova Scotia, for this cartoon. Think we owe it to him to make it go viral in Canada and in the United States.
I sent this in and got the call. My last cartoon, I think, in the Chronicle Herald. It's not published yet.

So, looking forward to Summer Olympics '28 in Los Angeles, which aquatic sports should be held in *our* river?

The worst of us.
Donald Trump ask for the definition of “DEI” then he tells Black journalists that Kamala Harris is of Indian heritage and she never identified as Black until recently! The crowd moans and laughs at him!! This dude is racist through and through.

All these righties and evangelicals calling the Paris Opening Ceremony a "disgrace." Did they even watch it? Like, ANY of it, beyond the single clip from one vignette of what was a vast, glorious, and spectacular show? My guess is, no.

I'm sure the French are very upset that their world-famous art and culture are not appreciated by US conservatives who just 10 days ago displayed their own cultural finest: Kid Rock, Hulk Hogan, Amber Rose & their Jesus: a convicted felon who cheated on his wife with a porn star

Watching USA-Serbia hoops, and not only is Kevin Durant on fire (8-for-8), but that is hands down the best looking, best designed basketball court I have ever seen. #ParisOlympics2024

I can almost guarantee it: a goofy pro cornhole movie, which I am going to call BAGGERS, will get made and become the DODGEBALL of the 2020's. nytimes.com/2024/06/21/magaz…

Having watched Andrew McCarthy's BRATS doc on Hulu, I am now waiting for the announcement of ST. ELMO'S FIRE 2, where the gang comes back together to buy the bar where their hopes and dreams first came to life, and where they now hope to "recapture the flame." #YoureWelcomeSony

I'm bumping this one myself because 1) it's a really good idea, 2) Hollywood is all about IP, right?, 3) Pretty sure the cast is all available, and 4) I would totally watch that. Probably multiple times.

I watched Chris Pine's epically panned POOLMAN last night, and I have to admit, I found it to be a lot of fun. Disjointed, maybe, and thin of plot. But it had heaps a shaggy dog charm, visual style, and an A-list cast clearly having fun. Definite cult-movie potential here.
