My most read post of the year was an incredibly long rundown about the end of The Digital Cultures Lab (watchtheedge.ca/2018/06/07/d…). That thing that was but somehow also wasn’t; so it is with humanities labs.
A bit more whimsical than The Memory Palace poems (mastodon.social/@memorypalac…@…), but so it be. This one hijacks the poems written by HD and Amy Lowell in "Some Imagist Poets".. read all you want every 192.2 seconds here: davidnwright.ca/full_fathom_…
Correct link to The Memory Palace: botsin.space/@memorypalace
or: davidnwright.ca/memory_palac… if yr not into the socials...
New poetry bot up and running... just sitting here waiting for the blusky code... and hanging on the mastodon (@davidnwright@mastodon.social).

I wonder how faculty would feel if, as a condition of receiving their salary, they had to submit their syllabi, grading rubrics, and assignments to a company that would check for “originality" and then use the data to build a database to check other submissions from colleagues.
’m getting more and more interested in what the way we treat emerging AI (particularly GPT) says about our tendencies to marginalize & demonize difference. I mean, let’s take it that the AI is sentient, what does our derision of it then say about how we treat “difference”?
Depending on how we engage with the above questions, we might well want to rethink how we treat AI and how academic contexts particularly are “liberal” and “welcoming” to a diversity of thought and cultural perspectives.
