Cruise appears in the book. He and BEE lived in the American Felt Building on 13th street while American Psycho was being written. So there’s a scene where Bateman gets in the elevator with TC. The weakest part of the novel really, until you realize it actually happened
Christian Bale took inspiration for the character of Patrick Bateman in 'American Psycho' (2000) from this interview of Tom Cruise with David Letterman. He felt that Tom Cruise had this very intense friendliness with nothing behind the eyes

Modern films lean heavily on exposition, treating dialogue as a crutch instead of a supplement. Earlier cinema trusted framing, blocking, and duration to communicate meaning.
What is something older movies cared about that feels mostly lost now?

Stoner, the 1965 John Williams novel is having a moment - it’s the cool book to talk about or say you are reading right now. I even saw someone go as the cover for a Halloween costume.

My favorite living pianist is Víkingur Ólafsson and I had to vacate New Orleans to make good on the ticket I had to see him perform at Carnegie Hall. (The 2nd time I have seen him there) WORTH IT

Spent a few days in the French quarter of New Orleans researching the death of Johnny Thunders (I stayed at the hotel he was found dead at) and touring Tennessee Williams’ residences in the hood. There are several! Many great dinners at Arnaud and Galatoire
